What does it really take to move from redlines to revitalization?

We gathered leaders from banking, development, advocacy, and housing to have the real estate conversation Dallas needs — not just about buying homes, but about ownership, legacy, and economic power.

This wasn’t about hype.
It was about infrastructure.

We talked about:
• Why mortgages get denied
• Credit and debt strategy
• Protecting Big Momma’s house
• Revitalization vs. displacement
• Zoning, policy, and development
• Why ownership must be coordinated

Redlining was a system.
Revitalization must also be a system.

If you care about housing, legacy, and building real equity in Dallas — this is for you.

The work continues.

We honor the life of Viola Fletcher—111 years of memory, dignity, and unshakable truth. One of the last living witnesses to the Tulsa Race Massacre, she stood as a reminder that this country’s darkest chapters live in the bodies of those who survived them.

She carried history with a quiet fire, refusing to let the world forget what happened to Greenwood or the people who built it. Her presence testified that our story is older than violence and stronger than every attempt to erase us.

At 40 Acres & A Mule Collective, we honor her not as a symbol, but as a guide. Her life calls us to build power, protect our communities, and fight for the world she was owed.

, Viola Fletcher.
Your witness remains our charge, our lesson, and our light.

🌾 Meet Isaiah T. Montgomery: A Legacy of Black Land Ownership 🌾

Before Tulsa. Before Rosewood. There was Mound Bayou—a town built by us, for us.

Isaiah T. Montgomery, born into slavery, became one of the boldest Black landowners of the 19th century. In 1887, he founded Mound Bayou, Mississippi—a self-sufficient, all-Black town that stood as a blueprint for Black freedom, power, and prosperity.

He believed we didn’t have to ask for a seat—we could build the whole damn table.

At 40 Acres & A Mule Collective, we honor his vision by reclaiming our right to land, legacy, and liberation. We’re not just dreaming—we’re building. Just like Isaiah did.

✊🏿 Buy Back the Block. Build Black Futures.

Now THIS is what community power looks like! Salute to and everyone behind the Neighborly Business Exchange for making sure East Oak Cliff ain’t just in the conversation—but LEADING it.

stands ten toes down with y’all—because economic justice starts at home, and WE are the solution we’ve been waiting on. From historic roots to visionary futures, it’s time we build the kind of micro-economy that honors our ancestors and secures the bag for generations to come.

Let’s cultivate, collaborate, and circulate these dollars like our freedom depends on it—because it does. Much love to every panelist, every business, every neighbor in the room. We’re not just showing up, we’re showing OUT.

Let’s be clear—land isn’t just dirt. It’s destiny. It’s what our ancestors prayed for, worked for, and got denied over and over again. But here we are, pulling up with purpose. We’re not just buying back the block—we’re flipping the whole system.

This ain’t Monopoly, it’s liberation. Ownership is power. And when Black folks pool resources? That’s strategy. That’s legacy. That’s ‘you-gon’-feel-this’ energy.

At 40 Acres & A Mule Collective, we’re not here to beg for a seat—we’re building the whole damn table, on land that we own. This is about healing what was stolen, planting what’s ours, and making sure the next generation inherits more than just trauma.

Let them know—we’re not just investing in land. We’re investing in our future.

We’re the movement your ancestors prayed for and your future kids will thank you for. Period.

Work with us. Build with us. Own with us.
It’s not just a collective—it’s a call to action.

🌿 Women’s History Month x 40 Acres and a Mule Collective 🌿

Black women have always led the fight for land, legacy, and liberation. Their vision, resilience, and power fuel the movement—because without them, there is no revolution. ✊🏾💜

🚨 WE WANT WHAT’S OURS. 🚨

They told us 40 acres and a mule was coming. That was 1865. We’re done waiting.

40 Acres and a Mule Collective is not a dream. It’s a blueprint. It’s a declaration. It’s a movement of Black folks taking back what’s owed—brick by brick, acre by acre, block by block.

We not asking. We’re educating, organizing, and building.
🛠 Teaching our people the game—real estate, land development, cooperative economics.
⚖️ Fighting for policies that protect Black homes and communities from gentrification, displacement, and exploitation.
🏡 Creating real pathways for land ownership—because we’re not here to rent forever.

This isn’t just about land. It’s about power. It’s about legacy. It’s about making sure our children’s children don’t have to start from scratch.

They never planned for us to own. We’re flipping the script.

Tap in. Get involved. Reclaim what’s yours.
