💬Text “Fight” to 817-793-3244 She is a versatile, fearless, ambitious, and vibrant motivational speaker and entrepreneur who is no stranger to the everyday struggles of life. As a child, Dishambra battled obesity, was abused in her home, was diagnosed wit
h severe dyslexia and a speech impediment, and was placed in special ed classes throughout her elementary and high school years. She began getting used to being made fun of, which caused her to face numerous difficulties growing up that carried over into her adulthood. Not being able to read or count money and suffering from low self-esteem and feelings of abandonment caused her great anxiety and much embarrassment throughout her life. As a result, Dishambra developed mental health issues, such as severe depression, emotional imbalance, and a personality disorder. Sometimes those voices would tell her just to end it all, some would tell her just to drink her problems away, and other voices would tell her to smoke the pain away, but there was always a voice that said, “You can get through this”. But at the end of the day, Dishambra was lost and confused. Refusing to spend the rest of her life feeling defeated, Dishambra used her shortcomings as motivation to overcome them. First, Dishambra began studying YouTube videos to teach herself how to improve her reading and speak more clearly. Then, she decided to start working out, and she cut out smoking and drinking to get clarity on who she really was. Dishambra knew this would not be an easy thing to do, but she knew something had to change. That one voice was always the strongest, the one that said, “You can get through this”! And at last, things began to look upward for Dishambra! But sadly, only for a little while. By the age of 28, Dishambra found herself facing adversity once again when she found herself homeless. At the time, she was working for a family member who had lost their business, causing her to lose everything as well. It was not long before she found herself sleeping in her truck in a Walmart parking lot or in vacant houses. On hot summer nights when it had become too difficult to rest, she would occasionally be able to seek shelter at the homes of extended family and friends when they had space available. However, they would always want money at some stage, which Dishambra did not have at the time. Finally, she knew the only peace she would get would be in her truck once a friend kicked her out of his house because she would not sleep with him. All she wanted was peace to try and sort things out. To try to figure out this thing called life! For many days, her only source of food was the items she stole from a local Walmart. After only being able to do a quick wipe-down with wipes in her truck or behind buildings, she eventually was able to purchase a $10.00 gym membership at a local Planet Fitness so she could take showers regularly. Shortly after, she landed a warehouse job with UPS making $125.00 a week. Although she was now working, it did not ease the stress of her situation. Feeling frustrated and angry at her circumstances, she cried for many days, trying to understand how her life ended up where it was. She finally reached her breaking point one hot summer's day when she was frantically searching for enough change to get from the Walmart where she was living to her job. After spending what seemed like hours searching, she was able to scrounge up enough pennies for a gallon of gas and drove to the nearest gas station. Walking into the gas station happy, once it was her turn in line, she gave the cashier all the money she had left, only for them to be thrown back at her with him yelling, “THESE PENNIES ARE TOO DIRTY. I’m not taking these dirty pennies!” Mortified, hurt, and in disbelief, Dishambra replied, “I’ll go clean them; where’s the restroom?”. She knew that at the end of the day, in her hands sat everything she had, and she needed to get to work by any means necessary. She broke down in tears in the restroom, letting out a deeply rooted cry as she scrubbed the pennies. As her tears fell down the drain, unfortunately, so did some of her pennies. And although she tried her best to recover them, she was only able to save a few. With her sadness now turning into anger, she took what she had back to the cashier, threw them at him, and told him to put them on the pump as she walked out. As she sat in her truck, she began to cry even more! Again, feeling the embarrassment and rejection she once felt as a child. This time, she began talking to God, saying, “God, I’m so tired of living this way. I’m not looking for a fancy home or to live downtown. All I want to be able to do is to lay my head down on a pillow in my own place. If you bless me, I promise to tell my story around the world, help people just like me, and I will minister to you”. A week later, she received a phone call from a lady named Dawn telling her she had seen her resume and wanted to see if she was available to meet with the HR Coordinator at that very moment. Although Dishambra was walking into her current job at the time, she quickly did an about-face and told Dawn she was on her way. She called into work from the parking lot, went to the interview, and was hired on the spot. Clueless about the homeless, with her first check, she kept her promise to God, and she started feeding the homeless out of the trunk of her car. In 2015, Dishambra formed The McQueen Foundation, a non-profit organization established to treat every homeless individual with the dignity and respect they deserve by building honest and meaningful relationships, showing empathy, patience, and love, hosting events in their honor, and treating them with integrity, all while creating memories with them that will last a lifetime. In 2019, Dishambra launched the Keeping My Promise Tour. On this tour, Dishambra, her staff, and a host of volunteers are traveling the world hosting uplifting and inspirational events, where they treat the homeless like royalty and make them feel human again. Thus far, they have conducted events in Washington, DC, Las Angeles, California, Houston, Austin, Fort Worth, Dallas, TX, and Atlanta, GA. This year, they are traveling to Las Vegas, Nevada, North and South Carolina, San Francisco, CA, and Chicago, IL. To date, The McQueen Foundation has served over 10,000 homeless individuals, helped house close to 30 individuals, and has grown to become the largest traveling foundation assisting the homeless in Texas. In 2021, The McQueen Foundation signed its first franchised location in Atlanta, Ga, and has now served over 300,000 homeless individuals worldwide. Over the years, Dishambra’s inspirational journey of homelessness has allowed others to gain hope amid their despair by hearing her story. In between doing all that she can to serve the homeless and those with disabilities, she also speaks publicly throughout the DFW Metroplex, encouraging and inspiring others and letting them know that no matter how difficult the journey, they too can accomplish anything they put their minds to. Because of those adversities, Dishambra refuses to allow anything to stop her from dreaming big and reaching her goals. Dishambra is a firm believer that anything is achievable through the combination of hard work and faith in God. She is also a published author of The McQueen Foundation Beginner’s Guide for Helping the Homeless. In addition, Dishambra hosts various training classes teaching people how to make their dreams a reality. Dishambra McQueen is also a Non-Profit Mentor, Branding Coach, Motivational Speaker, Model, and influencer to the masses. Her dream is to form McQueen Foundations worldwide and help people bring out their best selves. It has been six years, and Dishambra has continued to keep her promise to God, and that is what drives her every day. Never losing sight of her promise to God, she strives to impact people daily no matter what she is doing. Dishambra McQueen is a true example of no matter how high the odds are stacked against you; you can achieve anything your heart desires. With God, faith, hard work, and never giving up, anything is possible.
