September meeting recap!

Our meeting was lead by CiCi Adams, one of our resident authors!

We started sharing our "peaks and pits" of our week, which included:

Peaks:
Made $200 betting
Good times with friends
Peaceful week
Concerts
Time with friends

Pits:

Car problems
Trouble sleeping
Conflict with a coworker

Topic: Building and sustaining Community as a person who stutters.

We went around sharing who the people are who make us feel safe to talk and be ourselves. We talked about how to make friends and grow that circle of safety.

CiCi finished the meeting with a great idea we might adopt for future meetings, a challenge!

Challenge: Reach out to one person you haven't seen in a while this week, or even better, talk to a stranger and see where that takes you!

Last night the Dallas Chapter of the NSA had its monthly meeting. Our meeting was facilitated by former chapter leader Andrew Bowers, and we talked about "acceptance" and the different ways it can look.

The conversation flowed, we met new people, and we had a great time!

Thank you to everyone who attended our May NSA Dallas meeting! We had a wonderful discussion and enjoyed another relaxed evening of connection, support, and conversation.

Among those in attendance were David, Steve, Lee, Ryan, Angel, Joseph, and Jay, who joined us as a first-time guests. We were excited to welcome both familiar and new faces to the group.

During our meeting, we explored several interesting topics, including how stuttering exists in every corner of the world and whether other countries have organizations similar to the National Stuttering Association. We also discussed multilingual speakers and whether individuals tend to experience greater fluency in one language than another. Another fascinating conversation centered on actors and accents—how performers learn to switch between accents and maintain fluency in different speaking styles.

The conversation flowed naturally throughout the evening, allowing everyone the opportunity to share experiences, perspectives, and questions. It was a fun, engaging, and relaxed meeting, and we appreciate everyone who contributed to making it a success.

Last Saturday the Dallas chapter got together for our January Chat and Chew at the Flying Fish in Plano. We had amazing seafood including tilapia, shrimp and frog legs, and of course, lots of fun conversation.
