Thank you to Major Yancey Nelson for speaking to the club this morning. Major Nelson shared his perspective on officer morale in Northeast Dallas, preparations for the upcoming World Cup, and response times across the city. He also discussed the positive progress he is seeing at Forest & Audelia and expressed his enthusiasm for the impact of the PID in the area.

We appreciate Major Nelson taking the time to provide an update and engage in a thoughtful discussion about issues affecting our community.

A fascinating conversation this morning at the KayCee with Brett Johnson, Conservation Manager for Dallas Park & Recreation.

Highlights included updates on White Rock Lake’s bald eagles and the city’s goat grazing program.

On the eagles, Brett emphasized that public cooperation is vital—and noted that cooperation has been “variable.”

And on the goats? Sometimes the best brush management plan has four legs and a big appetite.

Thanks to Brett for a great presentation and to everyone who joined us!

The Exchange Club is grateful for opportunities to serve and support our community. Last Friday, we enjoyed cooking hot dogs at the Red & White Football Game, and today we celebrated Senior Decision Day as students announced where they’ll be headed for college this fall.

A special congratulations to Cristal, recipient of the Board of Directors Scholarship Award — we’re proud to recognize your hard work and accomplishments!

On behalf of the Exchange Club of Lake Highlands, we extend our heartfelt condolences to Robert and the entire family on the passing of Stephani. She touched the lives of so many in our neighborhood and community, and she will be remembered with great respect and affection.

The Lake Highlands Women’s League is heartbroken by the passing of our dear friend and active member, Stephani Walne.

Since joining LHWL in 2018, Stephani poured her heart into our organization and our community. She served with dedication and grace as Home Tour Chair, Home Tour Chair-Elect, and Scholarship Chair, while also volunteering in countless other capacities over the years. Stephani brought warmth, creativity, generosity, and unwavering commitment to everything she touched. Her joyful spirit and servant’s heart made a lasting impact on our League and on all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Beyond her many contributions, Stephani will be remembered for the kindness she extended so freely, the friendships she nurtured, and the genuine care she showed to everyone around her. She embodied the spirit of community and service that defines the Lake Highlands Women’s League.

We extend our deepest condolences and prayers to her family and loved ones - especially her husband Robert, her daughter Lucy, sons Brett, Jack & Charlie, her sister-in-law, active Sarah Hefton, and her mother-in-law, sustainer Joan Walne, during this incredibly difficult time. Stephani was the daughter of the late LHWL member, Eileen Smith.

A memorial service honoring Stephani’s life will held at Park Cities Baptist Church on Thursday, May 14th at 1:00pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Neuroendocrine Tumor Research Foundation and Lake Highlands Women’s League.
