Strong strategy requires intentional collaboration and partnership.

Earlier this week, The Commit Partnership gathered for its 2026 organization-wide retreat to strategize how we can continue improving student outcomes across our county and state. Together, we explored how to better support and equip educators to be effective in the classroom, how informed decision-making by business and education leaders can strengthen our systems and how partnership can support students at every stage of their journey — from their first steps to their first jobs.

Partnership drives our work forward. By bringing together partners across education, business and our communities, we can create more opportunities for students and young people to succeed. And that collaboration is essential to reaching our Opportunity 2040 goal: By 2040, at least half of all Dallas County residents ages 25-34, irrespective of race, will earn a living wage.

Texas has a rare opportunity to rethink how we support young children and families.

Thanks to Gov. Greg Abbott’s Task Force on the Governance of Early Childhood Education and Care, Texas can address persistent challenges in access to high-quality early education, including support for early educators, by building a more coherent, accountable system that works better for Texas children and families.

Big challenges require big changes. Texas must move beyond incremental fixes and pursue the large-scale redesign our early childhood system needs.

The 2026 Commit Summer Fellowship may have concluded, but the impact of our fellows’ work continues.

Over the summer, our 14 fellows transformed complex capstone projects into practical tools, strategies and insights that directly support The Commit Partnership’s work. From evaluating a district’s teacher pipeline to strengthening how we tell the story of our impact, each project addressed a real organizational or community need.

“It is possible for all campuses in Texas to earn an A or B. But it takes dedicated systemic decisions to bring in those resources and that talent,” said The Commit Partnership's Bridget Worley on Texas Education Agency's 2026 A-F Accountability Ratings in the Texas Tribune.

Accountability can do more than measure progress. It can spotlight where support is needed, help direct resources and talent, and drive action toward better outcomes for every student.

Austin is among at least five Texas school districts inching toward state sanctions because of chronic academic underperformance.

Schools in Dallas County continue to make progress, and the latest accountability ratings help us see both where students are seeing stronger outcomes and where important gaps remain.

In his latest The Dallas Morning News column, The Commit Partnership's Miguel Solis reflects on Texas’ A-F accountability as both a parent and former Dallas ISD trustee and explains why measuring student outcomes remains an important tool for families and communities.

“If we stop measuring differences in outcomes, they do not disappear; they simply get easier to ignore.”

The latest results give us reasons for optimism, from gains among middle schools in Dallas County to campuses sustaining improvement over multiple years. They also reinforce the work ahead to ensure more students, regardless of family income, have access to excellent schools and the opportunities that come with them.

North Texas school districts largely held steady in Texas Education Agency's 2026 A-F Accountability Ratings, with Dallas County districts continuing to make gradual gains.

"It's most important that districts continue steadily upward, rather than posting scores that swing dramatically up and down from one year to the next," said The Commit Partnership's Bridget Worley The Dallas Morning News article.

Steady progress matters. And with continued investments in teacher quality, certification, and compensation, there’s an opportunity to accelerate that progress for students across Dallas County.
