Texas Urban Council (TUC) districts, which include some of the largest urban school systems in Texas, continue to make meaningful gains on STAAR assessments.

This year, TUC districts saw growth in Reading and Math performance across grades 3–8 while also accelerating progress on End-of-Course (EOC) exams across all five tested subjects. Particularly encouraging were gains in Algebra I and Biology, key indicators of college and career readiness.

These outcomes reflect the dedication of educators, students, and school leaders across TUC districts who are working together to expand opportunities and improve outcomes for all learners.

Today, the Texas Education Agency released 2025–26 STAAR results for students in grades 3–8. The results show encouraging signs of progress across Dallas County:

– Reading proficiency increased by 1 percentage point matching the state’s 1-point gain
– Math proficiency increased by 2 percentage points outpacing the state’s 1-point gain
– 4th-grade math proficiency increased by 5 percentage points, with 12 of the county’s 15 largest school systems posting gains over the previous year .

These results represent thousands of students continuing to build the reading and math skills that support future success in high school, college, careers, and life. We're grateful to the teachers, school leaders, families, and students whose hard work made this progress possible!

"Districts are creating more coherent experiences that support student achievement,” said The Commit Partnership's President Miguel Solis, as newly released Texas Education Agency data shows that Dallas County and Texas students are continuing to recover academically after the pandemic, with Dallas County improving faster than the state overall, largely due to sustained efforts around collaboration, rigorous instruction, and college-and-career readiness. Both in Dallas ISD and across Texas, high schoolers posted gains on state standardized tests compared with last year, according to STAAR results released Wednesday.

Yesterday, we welcomed our summer fellows and kicked off the season with a Commit Pickleball Social at At Fault!

It was a fantastic afternoon filled with friendly competition, great food, and meaningful connections. Events like these remind us how important it is to build relationships, spark bigger conversations, and connect beyond our day-to-day work. Investing in our community culture is what allows us to spark bigger ideas and work better together.

Huge congratulations and a warm welcome to our new fellows. We're so excited to see the impact these fellows will have this summer!

Today, the Texas Education Agency released 2025–26 STAAR End-of-Course results for high school students across Texas — and Dallas County students showed encouraging signs of progress.

Across all five EOC subjects, Dallas County students demonstrated broad-based improvement, with 14 of the county’s 15 largest school districts increasing their overall percentage of students meeting grade levels. Of those 15 districts, 7 surpassed the 5% growth seen by the state.

Two especially encouraging bright spots:
✅ Algebra I proficiency increased by 9 percentage points
✅ Biology proficiency increased by 12 percentage points

These results reflect years of work by students, teachers, school leaders, families, and community partners across Dallas County. This data helps us better understand where progress is happening and where additional support may still be needed.
