We are honored to feature Wayne Wallgren, CIS, CITP as part of the SITE Texas Past Presidents series.

Wayne’s involvement with SITE Texas spans nearly two decades — serving in roles from VP of Marketing to Special Advisor and International Liaison. His presidency in 2012 is a centerpiece of his journey with our chapter.

What stands out most about Wayne’s tenure is his ideas. The SITE Texas Summit (formerly Tech Summit), the Roadshows, the Annual Board Retreat, the Chapter Circle of Honor and Lifetime Achievement Award, and the chapter’s Sustainability certification — part of SITE’s first global graduating class — all trace back to Wayne. Several of these have since been adopted and adapted by other chapters around the world.

Wayne also created and produced the chapter’s first podcast, running for an impressive 99 episodes.

In his own words: “I think I’m most proud of the ideas I had that others made a reality. Everybody gets to take the idea and put their own spin on it. I like that part.”

That kind of lasting influence is something special. Thank you, Wayne, for the creativity and vision you’ve brought to SITE Texas.

Activity Day at SITE Texas Summit is always a program favorite — and this year’s lineup delivered something for everyone.

Attendees chose the activity that fit them: a hike through Red Rock Canyon with Love Hikes, a Pink Jeep tour through the beautiful desert landscape, a walk through the arts district with brunch at The Golden Nugget, or a visit to the JW Marriott Las Vegas Resort & Spa for a massage or facial. Everyone walked away with new friends and fun stories to share.

The afternoon wrapped enjoying the pool cabanas at Red Rock Casino Resort & Spa, where the whole group came back together to relax and recap the day.

Thank you to our activity sponsors for making it all possible — LOVE HIKES LLC, PINK Adventure Tours, Landry’s, and JW Marriott Las Vegas Resort & Spa.

We are honored to feature Jonathan Richards CIS, CITP as part of the SITE Texas Past Presidents series.

Jonathan joined SITE Texas in 2008 and stepped into leadership almost immediately — serving as VP of Marketing in 2008 and 2009, President-Elect in 2010, President in 2011, and Past President in 2012.

But his commitment to SITE didn’t begin or end with Texas. His volunteer leadership stretches back more than 20 years, starting with the board of SITE Great Britain. His work with SITE Texas opened the door to six years on the SITE International Board of Directors, and today he serves as President of the SITE Foundation Board of Trustees.

In his own words: “What I’m most proud of isn’t a single moment, but the journey itself. To have supported this remarkable association and the incentive travel industry through more than two decades of volunteer leadership is something that makes me both incredibly proud and deeply humbled.”

That kind of sustained commitment — from a local chapter board to the global stage — is what moves this industry forward.

Thank you, Jonathan, for everything you have given to SITE Texas and to the SITE community as a whole.

We are honored to feature Julie Martinez, CMP, CMM as part of the SITE Texas Past Presidents series.

Julie served as President of the SITE Texas chapter in 2010, President-Elect in 2009, and Co-Director of Education in 2008 & 2009.

Her term as President came during a lean stretch for the chapter — 42 members and a modest budget. But that didn’t slow the board down. They worked hard to grow membership and raise the chapter’s profile, and the results spoke for themselves.

A highlight from Julie’s presidency was the inaugural SITE Texas Education Summit. Pulling it together on a tight budget was no small task, but the event delivered. When Bill Boyd, former SITE International President and a key mentor to Julie, remarked that it was one of the best educational events he had ever attended, it meant everything to the team. The SITE Texas Summit went on to become an annual event.

Julie also submitted the chapter for SITE’s Chapter of the Year award. In her words: “To even be considered was such an honor. We were a small chapter, and each of us upheld the SITE standards and had a great passion for our industry and promoting continued education around the incentive market.”

Some of her most memorable moments were quieter ones — a small group of board members crowded into a corner booth at a restaurant, mapping out big plans for the year ahead. By the time the holiday event came around, those plans had become reality.

“Knowing that the chapter has grown into the success it is today warms my heart,” Julie reflects.

SITE Texas today is a reflection of people like Julie who showed up and put in the work. Thank you for the leadership and dedication that shaped the SITE Texas chapter into what it is today.
