Finnell ALS Foundation was established February 24th of 2017. It is the heart and vision of the founder Mario Finnell. Finnell began experiencing mild symptoms of stiffness in his left pinky finger. Through a series of tests to rule out common diseases, he was given the rare diagnosis of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) also known as Lou Gehrig's disease. This diagnosis was given in July of 201
6. Mario has fearlessly dealt with the aggressive progression of this disease with peace, poise and resilience. In his truly selfless nature, he's always thinking of others that may be less fortunate than himself. It is his dream ,vision, and desire to create a means for others to have the financial resources, daily living tools, and spiritual and emotional support to cope with the long term effects of ALS. With that in mind, in February of 2017, the Mario A. Finnell ALS Foundation was officially formed as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. The board consist of 8 members: Shirley Finnell -President, Dr. Faith Oliver-Robertson-Vice President, Mark Finnell -Treasurer and Sergeant at Arms, Laronza Moran -Secretary and the directors , Mike Walker, Pam Dabner, Channie Hopkins and Rodney Nelson. These individuals have come together and helped him bring his vision to pass. This board is not just a group of like-minded individuals. It is a family who love and adore Mario Finnell. It is our goal and our mission to carry out his dream, carry out his legacy, and carry out his love for others through the activities of this foundation.
