With completion of the trail, the group will now focus on adding amenities to the trail and trail advocacy efforts. The SoPac Trail is a commuter and recreational hike and bike trail in East Dallas that runs from White Rock Lake to the Northwest along the former Southern Pacific Line railway. The trail serves as access to White Rock Lake for the Park Cities, North Dallas and Richardson as it runs from Lawther Road north towards Forest Lane and US 75 - along the way joining with the Katy Trail extension, the Northhaven Trail, the Cottonwood Trail and the White Rock Creek Trail.

We’ve got an ambitious list of projects for the future that will maintain and beautify the trail:

•Established two critical respite areas at key junctions along the trail.
•Installed a new solar light to improve safety.
•Added directional signage to help trail users navigate.
•Remediate graffiti promptly whenever it occurs.
•Tend the garden and care for the many trees we have planted.
•Keep the irrigation system and drinking fountain in working order.
•Beautifying the trail with wildflower naturalization areas.
•Organize a monthly trash pick-up to keep the trail clean.
•Monitor and report safety concerns to the appropriate authorities—from speeding motorized vehicles to potentially dangerous plants along the trail.
•Launched the SoPac Trail Garden Instagram page and actively communicate with the community through Facebook, Instagram, and our website.
•Maintain strong relationships with The Loop Dallas, Dallas Parks & Recreation, and The Dallas Trails Coalition, working together to address trail safety, maintenance, and improvements across Dallas.
