CHEW Compassion Fund Patient Spotlight: Missa 🐾

When Missa suffered a fracture, her family was faced with an urgent and heartbreaking reality… she needed surgery, but the cost felt out of reach.

Her pet parents were already carrying the weight of rent and daily expenses, doing everything they could to make it work. Through it all, one thing never changed: Missa is family.

Thanks to the CHEW Compassion Fund and the generosity of donors, Missa was able to receive the fracture repair surgery she urgently needed.

Today, she is on the road to healing, safe, supported, and still very much loved.

Stories like Missa’s are only possible because of community support. Your donations help pets get the care they need when families have nowhere else to turn.

🙏Please consider donating so we can continue saying “yes” in moments like this. 🐾❤️

☀️ Summer Prep for Dogs & Cats in Dallas 🐾

Texas heat is no joke and it’s already starting to show up across Dallas.

As temperatures rise, pets are at higher risk for heat stress, burned paws from hot pavement, dehydration, and worsening underlying health conditions. Dogs and cats don’t cool down like we do, which means even a “quick walk” or short time outside can become dangerous fast.

A few reminders for safe summer care:
💧 Always provide fresh, cool water
🌳 Limit outdoor time during peak heat hours (10am–6pm)
🐾 Check pavement with your hand…if it’s too hot for you, it’s too hot for paws
🚗 Never leave pets in parked cars, even for a minute

At CHEW, we’re here to help you keep your pets safe, cool, and comfortable all summer long. If your pet is showing signs of heat stress, with excessive panting, drooling, weakness, or vomiting, then you need to seek veterinary care immediately.

Stay cool, Dallas. Your pets are counting on you. ❤️

CHEW Compassion Fund Patient Spotlight: Zeus 💙

Shared by his family: Zeus has been part of our family for just four months, but in that short time, he’s become everything.

He is my 19-year-old son Diego’s puppy. Diego is autistic and deeply bonded to Zeus, who brings him comfort, stability, and joy every single day.

As a single mother caring for a disabled child, I can only work a few hours a week and cannot afford Zeus’s surgery on my own. The CHEW Compassion Fund and its donors made it possible for Zeus to receive the care he urgently needed.

Zeus is now recovering from surgery, surrounded by love, rest, and gentle care. He’s already showing us his strength and those soulful eyes are doing their usual work winning everyone over.

Please send Zeus some love as he heals. His story is not over and every message matters. 🐶❤️

Patient Spotlight: Max. 🐾

Twelve months ago, Max walked through our doors fighting for his life.

He was suffering from a rare autoimmune disease that was destroying his blood cells, and at the time, his future was uncertain. There were hard conversations, emotional days, setbacks, and moments where giving up would have been easier.

But Max’s family never gave up hope.
Through the support of CHEW’s Compassion Fund, generous donations, countless treatments, and an incredible amount of dedication (and personal sacrifice) from his owners, Max kept fighting.

Today, we are beyond grateful to share that Max is OFFICIALLY IN REMISSION. ❤️

This milestone represents 12 months of unwavering love, commitment, medicine, teamwork, and hope.

Stories like Max’s are why the CHEW Compassion Fund exists. ❤️ When compassionate people come together, lives are saved.

If you believe every pet deserves a fighting chance, please donate to the CHEW Compassion Fund today. Your support gives pets like Max hope, treatment, and a future. 🐾

Building Hope Campaign Update: Renovations Are Beginning 🏥

The time is here, renovations will begin soon, and we’re expecting our modular unit this week to help us continue providing care during this transition.

During this phase, we will focus on wellness visits, minor medical cases, and spay/neuter surgeries, with limited additional procedures as available.

Due to high demand, we will be closing intake for advanced surgeries within the next 24–48 hours.

We know how important this care is, and this decision was not made lightly. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this transition.

This little paw says it all. 🐾💛

One of our precious kitty patients at CHEW reached out mid-visit, as if to say, “I trust you.” And honestly, we felt that.

It’s in these quiet, gentle moments that remind us why we’re here. Every soft paw, every brave face, every tiny connection matters.

We’re so grateful to care for animals like this sweet soul and to have a community that makes it all possible.

Thank you for helping us keep showing up for them. 🐱✨
