Visual Effects Society - Texas Section The Texas Section is the 16th section established by the society in January 2024.

To advance and promote visual effects imaging in the state of Texas and empower our honorary society membership through professional education, enriching benefits, fostering community and industry recognition. The Visual Effects Society (VES) is a global professional honorary society and the entertainment industry’s only organization representing the full breadth of visual effects practitioners. VES’ nearly 5,000 members in more than 45 countries worldwide contribute to all areas of entertainment – film, television, commercials, animation, special venue, games and new media.

All VES Members around the globe are eligible to run for the upcoming 2-year term (January 2027-December 2028). The Global Board of Directors represents the members' interests and provides key guidance on policies that drive our organization.

Animated categories have been updated this year to be more inclusive of episodic work, with titles changing from “Animated Feature” to Animated Project to allow animated series to compete alongside other animated projects where they were previously ineligible or competing alongside photoreal work.

Our VES-Texas team had a great time at Industry Giants 2026 on the beautiful The University of Texas at Dallas campus. Thank you to the leadership team at Industry Insights - formerly ABOSG for the invite, and congratulations on another fantastic event!

We were honored to have Visual Effects Society Board Chair Kim Davidson with us, along with members of our section Colin Campbell, Mark Nazal, Alex Jaeger, Joey Cade, Bryon Caldwell, Steven Engel Craven, Stephen Steinbach, Elise Hatheway, Patton Tunstall, Brett Briley, Matthew Ward, lan Loomer, and Will Nicholson.

It was also great to reconnect with Matt Miller from the Texas Film Commission and Ian Loomer also with the Dallas Producers Association.
