Monday we kicked off our Youth Can Summer Camp “You are what you eat” . This week’s campers will learn fun,easy and healthy recipes that they can prepare themselves and with family and friends. Our partner, Texas A&M Agrilife Extension Service-Family and Community Health Program shared with our campers how to make fruit kabobs as a snack and they played My Plate Relay Race. Thank you, Sarah Matranga, for providing nutritional programs to our community. The kiddos had a blast! Our own Chef Ken and Sous Chef Julian did a demonstration on how to make fresh pasta: spaghetti, tortellini, ravioli, and marinara red sauce. Several of the campers and Young Ambassadors were helpers. Lunch consisted of cheesy chicken spaghetti, fresh salad, garlic bread, and an infused raspberry drink. Thank you, Chef Ken, and Julian, you really have a unique way of introducing delicious, healthy recipes to our kiddos. The kids loved it! After lunch, the campers wrote down the recipe. What a delicious way to start the week.

Our monthly Community Service Day is the perfect opportunity! Hosted on the last Saturday of every month at The Children’s Legacy Garden, it’s a wonderful environment for youth to learn leadership, civic responsibility, and sustainable agriculture while making a tangible impact right here in Forney. 🥕🌱

Our Young Ambassadors live this out every single day by mentoring our younger "Youth Can Kids" (ages 5-12). Watching peer-to-peer mentorship in action is truly a blessing.
