TCA was thrilled to be invited to participate in the installation of a memorial garden at Peeler Elementary in South Dallas which will honor both the school’s centennial anniversary and the 16-year tenure of recently deceased Peeler Elementary teacher Blaine Knous. TCA donated a variety of native pollinator plants to the project to support a garden that is not only beautiful and meaningful, but also biodiverse and sustainable. We look forward to seeing this garden mature and grow more beautiful with age.

Ranger Rick in North Texas Ranger Rick Mags! Celebrating 60 years of wild adventures! 🦝✨

For World Migratory Bird Day, TCA was thrilled to celebrate at the Lewisville Lake Environmental Learning Area LLELA Lewisville Lake with Friends of LLELA! We were joined by our very own apprentice, Arjun Bird, whose stunning wildlife photography has been featured multiple times in Ranger Rick magazine.

Rob S., the video producer for “Ranger Rick’s Road Trip,” joined us to film Arjun’s journey as a young conservationist and his connection to the magazine. Arjun has been a dedicated “Lights Out, Dallas!” activist, growing from collision monitoring surveys to leading public outreach efforts that inspire others.

We were also excited to have several Ranger Rick superfans join Arjun during the Road Trip stop! It was a wonderful reminder that conservation starts at home and can be led by nature lovers of any age.💚

Thank you, Rob, for making the journey to Texas to help tell this story! 🌎🐦

🪲Mothing season is officially here!

TCA is thrilled to join the McKinney, Texas - Unique by Nature, Blackland Prairie Chapter of Texas Master Naturalists, and Sam Kieschnick from Texas Parks and Wildlife-DFW Urban Wildlife tonight, May 8 at Erwin Park in McKinney!

Families can dive into the fascinating world of moths and fireflies and participate in a Moth BioBlitz. We also can't wait to share our new Dark Skies activities that focus on how natural darkness is so critical for our nighttime pollinators and local wildlife.

⚠️ We are in the peak of spring migration.

On high-intensity nights, millions of birds pass through the DFW region at once, making our Lights Out efforts more critical than ever.

Regardless of building height, from high-rises to single-family homes, window collisions remain a major threat to these travelers. You can help make a difference by turning off non-essential lights and using bird-safe window solutions.

Join Reunion Tower and thousands of Texans in taking action by turning off unnecessary lights tonight!

On Saturday, April 25th, Texas Conservation Alliance was proud to support the statewide Trash Free Gulf Campaign with a coastal cleanup in Port Arthur, Texas.

Together, 105 volunteers and city crews:
• Cleaned up 21 sites across the city
• Removed 760 pounds of trash
• Pulled 120 pounds directly from vital coastal habitat
• Beautified 13 city parks

The day wrapped up the best way we know how—connecting youth to the coast through hands-on fishing at Walter Umphrey State Park.

Huge thanks to Gulf Trust, H-E-B, 40+ conservation partners, and hundreds of volunteers for making these cleanup events possible. Protecting our coast takes all of us—and this was a strong step forward to turn the tide together.

Not every bird that strikes a window survives. For those luckier victims rescued by Lights Out Dallas volunteers, they have a much better chance at life. Thank you to Rogers Wildlife Rehabilitation Center for taking in these stunned birds and giving them the best chance to live!

⚠️ It's peak migration now!
Join us:
✅ Lights Out: Turn off non-essential lights between 11 PM and 6 AM.
✅ Treat Your Glass: Noticed collisions? Many affordable solutions are available to keep birds safe. Even if a bird seems okay after a bump, they can be quite vulnerable.
✅ Support Local Rehabbers: Donate to Rogers Wildlife Rehabilitation Center as they provide expert care to help injured birds return to the wild.
