Dear Dallas,

As you may have heard, Sweet Pass is packing up and heading down the road toward new horizons. At the top, thank you. Thank you for six full course years. On a personal level, we got married, we bought our first home, we had a child, and all the while, built tremendous life-scale friendships. Professionally, we found success in learning to write grants, fundraise, and organize joy-driven exhibitions with something to say. We stand by the belief that starting this project was only possible in Dallas—the audience, the generosity, and the community of artists have been paramount.

The true Dallas is discovered—a series of places that > and once found, these places are held in fondness by the initiated. We like to think the park became one of these hidden corners, a glimmer beyond the bougie, on the periphery of the retail frenzy art market, where it could live freely, as itself—experimental, untethered, and filled with the warmth of shared vision and a love of sculpture.

We owe so much to the artists, the board members, the friends of the park, and the volunteers who schlepped and sweated alongside us. Also to the people who stumbled upon this place, bringing in a glow that only real discovery can give. Together, we built something rare: a proof of concept, a test kitchen, a sculpture project that has shone brightly.

Sweet Pass will continue, and while this chapter comes to a close, we will carry these years with us, grateful for these experiences and with tenderness towards our Metroplex memories.

Thank you Dallas,
Sweet Pass Forever🌱

🍂Open Hours Saturday, Oct 19, 11-5 pm for our current exhibition “Sculpture School: Concrete”🌞

Pictured: detention; 32.77, -96.82 by Ariel Woods, the geographical coordinates in the title point viewers to the location of the North Tower Detention Center, which overlooks the Trinity River. For Wood, “by translating the architecture of a Dallas jail into the infrastructure of a detention basin, correlations between the materiality, austerity, and short-sightedness of both facilities may come into particular focus.”
