Circle Ten Council Exploring Program
Exploring is a program designed to foster and sustain partnerships between businesses and the youth in their communities. As a part of Learning for Life, an affiliate of Boy Scouts of America, Exploring partners businesses with youth ages 10-20 for a program of career exploration using a proven model that includes leadership, character development, life skills, volunteer service, and citizenship.
Exploring at Circle Ten Council covers 24 counties, including Grayson, Collin, Hunt, Dallas, Rockwall, Rains, Kaufman, Van Zandt, Ellis, Henderson, Navarro, Fannin, Lamar, Delta, Hopkins, Franklin, Titus, Camp, Morris, and Red River in North Texas and Bryan, Choctaw, Pushmataha, and McCurtain Counties in Oklahoma.
In 2017, there were 1,968 youth that participated in Exploring in over 11 different industries, including 43 Law Enforcement Posts, 13 Fire and EMS Posts, 2 Medical Posts, 4 Architecture Posts, amongst many others. Our partners offering Exploring Posts include Dallas Police and Fire Departments, Plano Police and Fire Departments, the Dallas Zoo and Arboretum, UT Southwestern Medical Center, Ernst & Young, Perkins + Will Architects, and many more.
Volunteers from these business partners initiate and sustain programs of hands-on career exploration to help foster a pipeline of future employees. They mentor and provide guidance to their youth members, called Explorers, so that they can “Discover Their Future”.
