Guthrie Park Community Center

Guthrie Park Community Center Guthrie Park is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization (Global Culture Center DBA Guthrie Park). It's also meant as a place for people to gather and socialize.

The purpose of the organization is to promote cultural events like music and dancing. Other than our regular monthly renters Guthrie Park is no longer renting the building out for private events such as weddings, reunions, parties, etc. We apologize for the inconvenience. Finances are generated through public donations, rentals (limited) and an annual Christmas raffle/show. All proceeds from donat

ions go toward supplies, utilities, maintenance, repairs and operations of Guthrie. There are no paid employees. Sally Clark (owner and manager of the Guthrie Park Community Center organization) became acquainted with Guthrie in early 1987 when friends rented the hall for a place to dance and play music. Sally became enchanted with the spirit of Guthrie and envisioned a place for the community to gather and socialize. In the fall of 1987 the county had put Guthrie “Hall”, and an acre of surrounding land, up for public auction. Sally saw an opportunity to make her visions transpire. She pursued the purchase of Guthrie and won the auction.

Come jam with us this Friday @ 6:30 !
All ages and skill levels are encouraged to play.
We have banjo, fiddle, mandolin, guitar, uke and bass players. Anything acoustic ( no amp) is welcome.
We also have refreshments and seating for people who'd like to listen or visit with friends. It's a great way to wind down from a long week.
There's room for dancing, too!
We suggest a $1 donation but it's not required.

It's been 38 years and we are still holding our weekly Friday Night acoustic music jams! You don't have to play an instrument to come to this event. Listeners are welcome too. Family friendly and all ages are welcome. Coffee and refreshments are provided. This is a come and go event so you can come when you can and leave when you want.
If you do play an instrument all ages and levels of music experience are welcome. Traditional, swing, bluegrass, Old-time fiddle, folk, oldies, rock n roll, country and blues. Anything acoustic.
A minimum $1 donation, per person, per event, is requested to help cover costs of the maintenance and operations of Guthrie Park. A 501c-3 non-profit organization. (as the Global Culture Center)

HELD EVERY FRIDAY 6:30pm - 9:00pm. EVEN ON HOLIDAYS!

A video to show an example of one of the dances, The Virginia Reel. The dance is taught at first then the music plays and we dance. No expectations of being perfect at it. Messing up is part of the fun.

We had a wonderful time last night at our 37th Annual Sounds of Christmas program. The performances were amazing. Thank you to everyone who participated in the event. I'm very grateful to everyone who came out to support Guthrie and to share in the spirit of Christmas.
