Texas Best Choices Animal Rescue is a non profit animal rescue just one hour east of Dallas, TX. We

Texas Best Choices Animal Rescue was born out of a deep love and concern for animals. It began because of the huge need in a community with no city or county animal services. Many times puppies, pregnant dogs, and unwanted dogs are left at our entrance or tied to our gate overnight. They are all in need of a safe place to live and recover from the harsh life of being hungry and homeless or unwante

d. Adoption is our ultimate goal for these precious animals and we have found homes for hundreds. 💚🌻 Meet Birdie, ready to spread her wings and fly home! 💚🌻

Birdie is a beautiful 5-year-old Labrador Retriever/Hound mix with a golden-red coat and an even more beautiful heart. She was found with signs that she had recently been nursing, but despite our efforts, her puppies could never be located. We believe this sweet mama may have been abandoned. Now that chapter is behind her, and Birdie is ready for a fresh start where she gets to be the one loved and cared for. 💛

At 76 lbs, Birdie is affectionate, playful, and incredibly people-friendly. She walks nicely on a leash, is house-trained, and currently lives with her buddy Scooby, who she loves running and playing with. She’s also great with kids and cats, making her a wonderful companion for a loving family.

Texas summers are no joke, but our rescue/sanctuary pups sure know how to stay cool!
People often ask us how we keep 60+ dogs comfortable during the dog days of August. Our outdoor runs on 22 acres are equipped with large, covered carports and additional shade covers installed for continuous shade. They also have fans, water tubs where the pups can take a dip whenever they need to cool off and misting stations that keep their whole area cooler!
It takes a lot of freshwater refills and shade maintenance to keep our "doggie water park" running smoothly all summer long.

❤️ SHAGGY GOT HIS HAPPY ENDING! 🐾

Shaggy came to us along with the family of six puppies we’re currently helping — and this sweet boy didn’t have to wait long for his new beginning.

After being featured as a Texas Best Choices Animal Rescue guest dog, a family saw his picture and wanted to meet him. The connection was instant. ❤️

Today, Shaggy has two little girls to play with and a loving, permanent furever home of his own!

When we learned about a local family struggling to care for several abandoned dogs, including six young puppies, we knew we had to help.

These little ones needed nutritious food, medicines, parasite prevention and vaccinations before they could begin their journey toward safe, loving homes. Every bag of food, every dose of medicine and every vaccine got them one step closer. 🐶

At just 2 years old and 60 lbs, Rosie is a beautiful likely purebred Great Pyrenees with the sweet, gentle, and loyal personality that makes this breed so special. After being found as a stray, a kind family opened their home and gave her the second chance she desperately needed. Now, Rosie is ready to put down roots with a family of her very own. ❤️

Rosie has been living indoors and has proven to be an amazing companion. She’s house-trained, crate-trained, spayed, up to date on vaccinations, and wonderful with kids, dogs, AND cats. She loves being close to her people and is happiest simply knowing she belongs.

Rosie is currently being treated for a heartworm-positive diagnosis, but don’t let that stop you from falling in love. TBC will help with the next steps in her treatment.
