Este miércoles 24 de junio, el Concejo Municipal votará sobre si:

Autoriza la implementación de la recomendación hecha el 19 de mayo de 2026 por el Comité de Transporte e Infraestructura para elevar nuevamente la altura del Centro de Convenciones Kay Bailey Hutchison de Dallas a su nivel original (actual), a fin de acomodar el tránsito de los viaductos Jefferson y Houston. Ingresos estimados que se dejarían de percibir: 271.300.000,00 $ del Fondo de Servicios de Convenciones y Eventos en un periodo de cinco años; costos de construcción adicionales estimados: 597.000.000,00 $ (consulte la Información Fiscal para considerar costos futuros).

Si este punto de la agenda (Punto 90) no se aprueba, es probable que la Ciudad proceda a demoler parte del viaducto Jefferson y elimine el acceso directo de Oak Cliff al centro de la ciudad, desviando el tráfico por una ruta indirecta alrededor de la Torre Reunion; esto añadiría tiempo y molestias considerables a los desplazamientos hacia el centro y dificultaría el acceso a Oak Cliff para todos.

City Council will be voting this Wednesday, June 24th on whether to:

Authorize the implementation of the recommendation by the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee on May 19, 2026, to raise the height of the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center Dallas back to the original (existing) height to accommodate the Jefferson and Houston Viaduct travel - Estimated Revenue Foregone: Convention and Event Services Fund $271,300,000.00 over a five-year period and Estimated Additional Construction Costs: $597,000,000.00 (see Fiscal Information for Future Cost Consideration)

If this agenda item (Item 90) fails, the City will likely proceed forward demolishing part of the Jefferson Viaduct and eliminating Oak’s Cliff’s direct access to Downtown by diverting traffic in a circuitous route around Reunion Tower, adding significant time and hassle to commutes to Downtown and making it harder for all to access Oak Cliff.

Our guest will be Dallas Councilmember Chad West (D1). Kidd Springs neighbors are encouraged to attend and share feedback about neighborhood safety and other concerns affecting our neighborhood.

Kidd Springs Neighborhood Association (KSNA) will be meeting next Monday, April 20th at James S. Hogg New Tech Center (1144 N. Madison Ave, Dallas, TX 75208) from 6:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. Please use the door on the south side of the building (next to staff parking lot).

We will be discussing: (i) Dallas’ Hospitality & Nighttime Task Force findings & recommendations and how they may apply to the Bishop Arts District, (ii) the rezoning application at 715 W. Davis, and (iii) other neighborhood matters.

Join us to meet with a representative of 1159 N. Madison Ave to discuss a pending historical designation request that would allow hotel use at this address.
