Downtown Dallas Parks Conservancy

Downtown Dallas Parks Conservancy Nurturing, building, and championing parks in Downtown Dallas. For the Greener Good.

Parks for Downtown Dallas is building four new urban neighborhood parks by spring 2023. Parks for Downtown Dallas has committed substantially all of its assets to build four “Priority Parks” recommended in the Dallas Park and Recreation Department’s 2013 Downtown Parks Master Plan Update. PfDD completed Pacific Plaza in October 2019; West End Square in March 2021; Carpenter Park in May 2022; and c

ontinues to advance work on Harwood Park. The four Priority Parks are being funded by $39.4 million in City of Dallas bonds, approved by the citizens of Dallas as part of the 2006 and 2017 Bond Programs, and $56 million in committed private investment. The strategy for the Priority Parks program is founded upon the design principles and financing tactics outlined in the 2004 Downtown Parks Master Plan and its 2013 Update, both of which were unanimously adopted by the Dallas City Council and the Dallas Park and Recreation Board.

Take a tour of West End Square with our Horticulture Director, Evo Lineberry, founder of .design.

Evo’s back to walk us through this neighborhood park in the West End designed by . While humans enjoy relaxing on the porch swings and cooling off under the shade of the trellis, Texas pollinators are also living it up thanks to the variety of native plants in West End Square’s prairie gardens.

Thanks, Evo, for sharing your expertise. Now we’re off to the park to explore the garden ourselves!

Momentum is building in Downtown Dallas! Thanks to the support of our community, the Conservancy is moving the Civic Garden Dog Park from vision to reality.

In recent weeks, contracts have been finalized, budgets approved, and early site work completed, including plant relocations, permits, and coordination with Dallas Park and Recreation Department.

Construction fencing is up, but the park remains open. Next, crews will begin infrastructure upgrades, protect existing trees, and prepare the space for new dog-friendly amenities.

Each step moves us closer to a dog park designed for both Downtown dogs and their neighbors. We look forward to welcoming you and your pups this summer.
