Parks for Downtown Dallas is building four new urban neighborhood parks by spring 2023. Parks for Downtown Dallas has committed substantially all of its assets to build four “Priority Parks” recommended in the Dallas Park and Recreation Department’s 2013 Downtown Parks Master Plan Update. PfDD completed Pacific Plaza in October 2019; West End Square in March 2021; Carpenter Park in May 2022; and c

ontinues to advance work on Harwood Park. The four Priority Parks are being funded by $39.4 million in City of Dallas bonds, approved by the citizens of Dallas as part of the 2006 and 2017 Bond Programs, and $56 million in committed private investment. The strategy for the Priority Parks program is founded upon the design principles and financing tactics outlined in the 2004 Downtown Parks Master Plan and its 2013 Update, both of which were unanimously adopted by the Dallas City Council and the Dallas Park and Recreation Board.

Last year, the money we raised on North Texas Giving Day went toward creating the new dog park in Civic Garden Park. This year, we’re dreaming even bigger.

🌸 We’re creating the largest garden in Downtown Dallas. 🌼

That means 26,000 square feet of gardens featuring Texas native and prairie-inspired plants. More than a beautiful addition to the park, this garden will provide habitat for monarchs and other pollinators and reduce urban heat island effect.

Main Street Garden Park: One of the best places to go when your lunch break calls for a frisbee game instead of another meeting.

In our latest park tour, Evo Lineberry, Horticulture Director for the Conservancy and founder of wilderline.design, takes us through this beloved Downtown park, where a sprawling lawn, playground, and flexible event spaces make it a go-to spot for families, neighbors, and community events.

And here’s one for the architecture nerds: Main Street Garden is framed by some of downtown’s most iconic buildings, including The Statler | Iconic Dallas Hotel and The Mercantile.

Shoutout to Downtown Dallas, Inc. for creating so many fun memories in this space, like the ice rink and movie nights Evo mentioned.

Your Downtown parks are getting some serious love. 💚 Evo Lineberry, our Horticulture Director, was out in Civic Garden last week installing gorgeous new native plants—10 new species that are pollinator-friendly, drought-resilient, and about to put on a show all summer long.

And Civic Garden is just one piece of the picture. Over the last month, our team partnered with the Dallas Park and Recreation Department crew to plant 1,280 perennials across our parks:

Civic Garden: 780 plants
Carpenter Park: 200 plants
Harwood Park: 240 plants
West End Square: 60 plants

Native plants mean healthier ecosystems and parks that are as beautiful as they are resilient. This is just the start of a big year of improvements across Downtown's parks, so keep checking back. Stay tuned! 🌻

Pacific Plaza holds layers of downtown Dallas history, but it also rewards anyone willing to slow down and look closely.

In our third park tour, Evo Lineberry, Horticulture Director for the Conservancy and founder of .design, walks us through one of downtown’s most tranquil green spaces, from towering sycamores and native grasses to the historic railway story embedded into the pavilion itself.

What looks like a simple park is actually a carefully designed ecosystem filled with texture, habitat, shade, and moments of discovery.

Evo’s back to walk us through this neighborhood park in the West End designed by . While humans enjoy relaxing on the porch swings and cooling off under the shade of the trellis, Texas pollinators are also living it up thanks to the variety of native plants in West End Square’s prairie gardens.

Do you know what you’re actually looking at when you walk through a park? Be honest. Do you know what a bioswale is?

Most people walk through a park and just see green space. We see systems at work. Meet Evo Lineberry, Horticulture Director for the Conservancy and founder of .design, as she walks Harwood Park and points out the details that quietly shape the experience, from native Texas plantings to pollinator habitats to the infrastructure beneath it all.
