NC Extension Master Food Volunteers and Family & Consumer Agents from Cooperative Extension County Centers - Gaston County Cooperative Extension, Iredell County Cooperative Extension , and North Carolina Cooperative Extension - Stanly County embarked on an enriching day trip to Linney’s Mill in Union Grove. This historic, water-powered grist mill has been producing stone-ground cornmeal and grits since 1936, preserving a vital piece of North Carolina's agricultural legacy.
During our visit, we delved into the traditional milling process, witnessing firsthand how the Linney family continues this time-honored craft. It's experiences like these that deepen our appreciation for local foods and the traditions that sustain them.
