The Polk County 4-H Ambassadors are hosting their annual food drive in partnership with Marion Polk Food Share.

Come drop off your non-perishable foods at the Polk County OSU Extension Office in Dallas to help support our community now through December 12th.

Adventure awaits—are you prepared to respond to an emergency outdoors?

-Eight hours online learning at your own pace before the hands-on, practical day.
-Eight hours Hands-on, in-person practical day: November 22, 2025, from 9 AM to 5 PM, at: Polk County Extension Office
-Learn wilderness first aid skills with real-life scenarios: identifying and treating life threats, splinting, improvised bandages, patient assessment, survival decision-making, environmental considerations, and more.
-Experience what it’s like to handle emergencies where miles separate you from help—be ready for anything thrown your way.
Note: The 8-hour online course MUST be completed prior to attending the practical day.

In person training: Nov 22, 2025 9am - 5pm
Geared for youth: Ages 15-18
Cost: $30

It is time for our Winter Gift Exchange!

Sign up by November 23rd!

The Winter Exchange will match you with a fellow member of the Polk County 4-H community, and you will have two weeks to create something cheerful to exchange. You could design a card, write a letter, prepare a painted rock, origami or fabric ornament or more – the sky’s the limit and we welcome whatever you think might brighten the day of your exchange match. The item you make will be dropped off at the OSU Polk County Extension office, where we will match you with another 4-H member. You can then pick up your gift during one of the pick-up dates the week before Christmas. We ask that exchange items are free or homemade, and that food items are not included due to safety reasons.

Happy Halloween!

Our office hosted a costume party!!! We had a number of great attendees including Severus Snape (X2), Superwoman, a Bee, Zoie, a Louvre Burglar, Princess Ariel, Sophie Hatter, and MORE!!!
We hope you had a fun and safe evening!

A beekeeping club! We are in search of volunteers to help launch a beekeeping program!

This is a volunteer role to help young people learn about bees! Commitment would be the training period this winter and then about 1 meeting a month.

Knowledge about beekeeping is a bonus, but not required.
