What a happy time this morning at Dallas Baptist University! We had our first ever commencement ceremony in beautiful Pilgrim Chapel. It was the first time for our new President, Dr. Adam Wright, to preside and to grant diplomas to the students! What a joy to work at a school with a steady gaze fixed on its purpose of helping students to integrate their Christian faith into every academic discipline and into every aspect of their lives!

This Saturday from 12:30 to 6:30, Act Beyond is hosting a FREE training to help you do it, not just talk about it. Bring a friend or a group who can help you apply the principles together.

Christmas will be here very soon. Lots of people are talking about refugees from the Middle East right now. When Jesus was born in Bethlehem, the family we look at in our manger scenes would have qualified by current U.N. criteria as “internally displaced persons” since they were required to stay in a part of their country away from their own home. Matthew’s gospel tells us that Joseph had a dream that saved Jesus’ life from the ruthless ambition of Herod the Great who ordered all the little children of Bethlehem to be killed. On that trip as an infant Jesus became a refugee from the Middle East.

Maybe as you are getting ready for Christmas you could make a moment to pray for those living today who have been born in Bethlehem. The link here will take you to a video which can lead you in that prayer: http://www.prayercast.com/gaza-strip-and-west-bank.html

God bless you and have a very Merry Christmas!

DBU HOMECOMING WORSHIP SERVICE

On Friday night at 8:00pm in the Pilgrim Chapel Sanctuary, as part of DBU’s 50th anniversary homecoming celebration and we will have a special worship service thanking God for His faithfulness to DBU through the years. Each year, we always have a Friday evening program during homecoming, and this year, we have the special opportunity to worship together as part of the 50th anniversary celebration.

All students are invited to attend this special worship service planned by Dr. Bob Brooks, Dean of the Graduate School of Ministry. Families of students are also invited to attend. Students who attend this worship celebration can receive two chapel credits toward their fall 2015 or spring 2016 chapel requirements.

Come and participate. You can tell your grandchildren when they come to DBU that you attended this event!
