Nestled in the rich green, rolling hills of Northeastern Pennsylvania is a magical place called Blue Chip Farm Animal Refuge. It's a place where no animal is too old or too unwanted to find a warm bed, good food and most of all, love. Over the past 20 years, Blue Chip Farm has placed thousands of animals into warm, loving homes. Marge Bart, the owner and founder of Blue Chip Farm Animal Refuge, is

rarely seen posting to this page. She has personally selected a few volunteers to speak on behalf of the animals, respond to followers comments/posts, and to inform and educate the community. Her time is spent with the animals, but she knows how wonderful the fans are who post here, and she reads the posts and comments frequently. If you have a specfic question for Marge please email her at the below email address or call the refuge.

This NEPA Gives, we want to share some stories about the young souls we have lost over the past year. Losing an animal is never easy, but it is even harder to handle when they are just babies.

Petunia and her puppies came to us as a surrender. Their owner โ€œrescuedโ€ Petunia from a puppy mill. Since she was not spayed, the other dog in the home was able to impregnate her, even though she thought her puppy mill days were over. When the family arrived, Petunia was skin and bones. She had nothing left to give to her puppies. On top of that, the litter had parvo. Sadly, we lost two puppies - Preston & WeeMan๐Ÿ’”

Our most recent loss, Fern, came to us with his siblings and mom. Momma knew something was wrong beyond his leg issues. Our vet found a hernia that his intestines were heavily wrapped in. A volunteer took him home to foster, bur unfortunate his intestines twisted to the point that he was in immense pain and we had to let him go. He was only 4 weeks old. ๐Ÿ’”

Sibella came to us with her siblings. As soon as she entered our care, we knew something was wrong. Her head was enormous, she could barely move, and she was clearly in pain. She had hydrocephalus (water on the brain) and was severely suffering. ๐Ÿ’”

Farrah was brought to our friendโ€™s at NEPA Rescue Vet after being found outside. Her jaw was fused together to the point she was unable to eat. We took her to the University of Pennsylvania where they confirmed the issue, but unfortunately, they were unable to fix it due to how intensely everything was fused together. ๐Ÿ’”

Mallard & Eagle came to us from a terrible hoarding situation. They were the smallest of the group and while at first they were doing well, both took a turn for the worst. Mallard passed from fading kitten syndrome, while we attempted vet care, she did not make it. Eagle began to urinate blood and while treatment was attempted, he began to fade a few hours later and did not make it. ๐Ÿ’”

These are only a few of the heartbreaking losses we have experienced. It is beyond upsetting to lose animals so young. They deserve better, they deserve to live long happy lives. While we do our best, some things are completely out of our hands.

Please consider donating to us this NEPA Gives so we can continue to fight for these precious tiny souls โค๏ธ

This NEPA Gives, we would like to highlight our available dogs ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ’™

Our kennels are currently BURSTING!
All kennels are full.
Unclaimed strays.
Hoarding cases.
Cruelty cases.
Surrender requests.
The calls never stop.

On average, we receive 30 calls a day regarding animals in need of placement. No one seems to want to keep their animals, no one is seeing them as a lifetime commitment, no one wants to make things work. Humans are incredibly irresponsible.

Please share this post for our dogs.
You NEVER know who might be looking to add to their family!

Every few months there seems to be a new theme that pops up. Whether that be the same breed entering our doors, a specific medical issue showing up all over the place, or even a sudden overwhelming interest in wanting to adopt an animal that has been in our care for years. We never know what is going to happen, but what we do know is that the most recent โ€œthemeโ€ was eye issues!

Over the last few weeks we have had 5๏ธโƒฃ cats/kittens need eyes removed. All came from different backgrounds, but all needed the same thing. Thankfully we work with some of the best veterinarians in the area who have beautifully handled our never eye issues!

๐Ÿ’š Dove - kitten who needs her eye removed at spay. She is still available for adoption!!
๐Ÿ’™ Julius - kitten who needed his eye removed at a very young age due to how bad the injury was (unknown cause). He is currently in a foster to adopt home.
๐Ÿ’š Peggy Sue - kitten who needed her eye removed at a young age. She is still available for adoption with her brother, Marty!
๐Ÿ’™ Myrtle - adult who needed BOTH eyes removed! She has been adopted by the best family!
๐Ÿ’š Italian Wedding Soup - kitten who unexpectedly needed emergency surgery to remove his eye. He has been adopted!!

YOUR support and donations allow us to provide the veterinarian care these cats and kittens desperately need! Please consider donating to us this NEPA Gives!

Pictured is Malibu! She came to us last summer after she was found curled up on the side of the road. She was emaciated to the point she was unable to properly walk. She would randomly fall over and her spirit was completely broken. We later noticed some neurological issues going on and after some testing, it was discovered that Malibu was having seizures. She has been on phenobarbital for awhile now and is doing very well.

Fast forward to now, Malibu is still in our care and waiting for the perfect forever home to choose her. She is roughly 10 years old. While she is a petite dog, her medication has caused her to gain extra weight. We are working hard to try and keep the extra weight off of her, which is not an easy task. She is a quirky lady who is picky with her people and would love to be your one and only. While we do not know exactly what her past looked like, it was clear that she was not treated kindly and she needs time to know you will be kind to her.

YOUR donations allow us to provide the medication needed for dogs like Malibu. We currently have two dogs on seizure medications, which is not a cheap bill. We are forever grateful to have wonderful supporters that allow us to continue our mission. ๐Ÿ’™

Kitten season used to be one time a year. Those few weeks would be insanely overwhelming, but boy do we wish kitten season was still a thing ๐Ÿ˜…
Kitten season is a year long experience now, it seems to just increase during the warmer months. Kittens never stop coming in. Between hoarding houses, an increase in dumped cats, and an increase in ferals cats - kittens are EVERYWHERE all of the time!

In the video below are our newest rescues. They were in a backyard next o a busy road and needed help. Over the course of a few hours, they were caught one by one and brought to safety. Once all kittens were safe, mom entered the trap as if she knew she would be safe and have the chance to reunite with her kids - no mom left behind!

This video was taken once all kittens were back at the shelter and their intake photos and gendering happened. Yes, they were scared. Yes, they hated us. Yes, we took the opportunity to make a 5 second video during it all. And yes, they thought they were scary little killers. What they didnโ€™t realize was that they weee safe, loved, and would have the chance to find true families instead of fending for themselves surrounded by the dangers that come with being outdoors.

They are now in a wonderful foster home where they will continue to learn to love humans, feel safe, and experience the best kittenhood that they can! While they are not quite ready for adoption - they will be within the next few weeks! They were named after the family members of the elderly homeowner โค๏ธ Ed, Michelle, Tracy, Jack, & Anne.

YOUR donations allow us to rescue kittens just like this group. While we can not rescue them all, we try our hardest to rescue as many as we can. This can not be done without your support! โค๏ธ
