When she talks about her daughter's adoption, she starts with the hospital.
A birth mom who placed her daughter through Texas Adoption Center spent those days with her boyfriend, her daughter's father, and her daughter's adoptive parents. They spent time in each other's rooms and ate meals together. In her words, they became a family in that time.
She chose a semi-open adoption, and she is clear that she did not choose it for herself. She chose it for her daughter, so that if her daughter ever wants to reach out and have a relationship, she can.
She says the agency got her started quickly but let her move at her own pace, that her specialist was open and detailed about every part of the process, and that she had resources during her pregnancy and after her daughter was born. She and her adoption specialist, Jennifer Wulf, still keep in touch. She calls her family.
Her advice to any mom considering adoption is simple: do what you think is right. Only you know what is right for your baby.
