Spreading the Warmth It only takes one act of kindness to make the world a better place.

Spreading the Warmth is a purposeful community organization whose members distribute handmade scarves, hats, and shawls throughout the world as acts of kindness. Spreading the Warmth promotes these kind acts by encouraging knitters and crocheters of all ages to create scarfs and then distribute them in their communities by simply saying, "I made this for you."

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO US!!!
So much for my thinking we would have a small Knit Night as we are blessed to have many Jewish members celebrating the Jewish new year.
30 people showed up tonight for the beginning of our new year—ranging in age from 5 to 91!! And what a fabulous night it was as we took in hundreds of scarfs, hats, and other beautiful pieces!

Friends—
I want to share an excerpt from an e-mail I received from Elaine Murphy, our outstanding Colorado field representative. Her daughter teaches at a small school in the Evergreen area. After her students put notes and ribbons on each scarf, they will be delivered in October to homeless shelters in the surrounding community. What a great big triple blessing!

“I thought you would enjoy pictures of Beth's Special Education students putting ribbons and gift cards on the scarves you delivered in May. When I brought the scarves to the school yesterday, two boys transported the boxes into the school and thanked me for delivering them. Thanks for launching Spreading the Warmth. The scarves provide a great life lesson for these students, most of whom come from lower class families themselves.”

Of course you can give out scarves year round! I just tell the recipients that in a few months, they will appreciate the scarf even more. 😊This morning, my hubby had a follow-up with his fabulous spine surgeon, Dr. Felipe Colon. He was so touched when he got this scarf (thanks, Tanya!) as an extra thank you for his great care. He has literally called my husband three times to check on him! His great PA also received a scarf. It’s such a joy to spread warmth and kindness 12 months a year. 🧶🧶

We were blessed with such a perfectly beautiful gift today!! One of our most accomplished knitters, Tanya Nguyen, just dropped off these scarves! Even though she moved far away in Princeton and sadly isn’t able to join us at Knit Nights anymore, she still tirelessly knits her gorgeous signature scarves in just the solid unisex colors we need!!

This morning we delivered three great big yard bags of our warmest scarves to Elaine Murphy, our fabulous Colorado field representative. This is the 10th year of our partnership! Her daughter’s special ed students will write and tie individual notes to each one that is given to the homeless at Evergreen Outreach Center. So grateful for her and her family’s commitment to making a difference in so many lives.
