We renew hope for refugee women by providing job training, education programs and income as they transition into their new life in the U.S. Our sales will sustain our operations allowing your donations to be directly invested in programs that impact refugee women.

October is Women’s Small Business Month, a time to celebrate women turning their skills and ideas into something of their own.

At VTC, we know economic independence can start in many different places: learning a new skill, strengthening English, earning a paycheck, managing finances or gaining confidence in the workplace.

Not every woman who comes through VTC will become a business owner, and that isn’t the goal. The goal is for her to have choices.

For some, the skills they build here may even become the foundation for something of their own.

This month, we’re celebrating women entrepreneurs and all the steps that help women confidently pursue what comes next.

Behind every number is a person, a family, and a story of rebuilding.

According to UNHCR’s 2025 Global Trends Report, 41.6 million people were living as refugees worldwide at the end of 2025. Children accounted for 39% of the global refugee population.

These numbers speak to the scale of displacement around the world, but they also remind us why support at the local level matters.

For refugee women rebuilding their lives in North Texas, starting over can mean navigating a new language, a new culture, and an unfamiliar workforce, often while caring for their families.

Global displacement can feel overwhelming. But here in our own community, we can help make a meaningful difference, one woman and one family at a time.

Because of this incredible community, Vickery Trading Company raised $15,000 this North Texas Giving Day.

But the number we're most excited about isn't the amount raised. It's what those dollars represent.

More opportunities for refugee women to develop skills. More support as they strengthen their English. More preparation for meaningful employment. More relationships and resources to help women build greater independence in their new communities.

Today's the day!

North Texas Giving Day is here, and we're inviting our community to support refugee women building new lives right here in North Texas.

At Vickery Trading Company, women are developing new skills, strengthening their English, pursuing meaningful employment, and building greater independence for themselves and their families.

Our goal is to raise $15,000 to provide vocational training, English language development, mentorship, and holistic support. Every gift helps us get there.
