The United Nations defines human trafficking as the recruitment, transportation, transfer, harboring, or receipt of persons by improper means (such as force, abduction, fraud, or coercion) for an improper purpose including forced labor or sexual exploitation. The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) estimates nearly 2 million children around the world are victims of commercial sexual exploitation. Ho
wever, those numbers may be higher than we know because human trafficking often goes un-noticed and un-reported. a non-profit organization, was founded in February of 2014 to build awareness and educate the public on identifying current and potential victims while creating solutions to eradicate human trafficking on a local level and worldwide. The organization will accomplish this effort through a variety of education and training programs set up to aid Health Care Professionals in clinical settings, Law Enforcement including the court system and Child Protective Services (CPS), Domestic Minor Trafficking Training Program, Prevention Program for Boys and Girls, Human Trafficking Assistance and Resource Center, Community Awareness and Outreach Campaigns, and Multilingual Media Campaigns. With the help of grants and other funding avenues, these training programs will enable those on the frontline of this fight to give care, comfort, and a future to those affected by this global health crisis through counseling, G.E.D programs, job training, and continual healthcare. Generating public awareness is a daunting task and without these types of programs, the problem of human trafficking remains unresolved and our world’s future remains in jeopardy.
