Our students are learning that leadership starts with knowing yourself. 🔥

In Session 4 of our Ignite Me Action Civics program, students explored their own gifts, abilities, interests, and strengths, from creativity and leadership to problem-solving, technology, bilingual skills, and more.

When young people recognize what they bring to the table, they can begin to see how those gifts can become tools for creating change in their schools and communities.

Be honest… how do YOU react when someone gives you feedback? 👀 Do you listen? Get defensive? Ask questions? Take a minute to process it?

Learning to receive constructive criticism is a skill, and it’s an important part of building healthy relationships, strong communication, and thriving communities.

We asked two of our students at Madison High School how they receive feedback. Their answers are similar… but not quite the same. 👀

Because before we can become better communicators, we have to understand how we communicate when we’re challenged.

That’s the mindset we want every Youth Revive student to carry with them. Through our IGNITE ME Action Civics Program, students are learning that they don’t have to wait for someone else to change their communities. They can be the change they want to see.
And we’re putting that belief into action this school year.

This November, one of our students will help lead Serve With Us Day as we come together to revive the community garden at New Tech High School. 🌻

We’re starting the year with big goals, big plans, and a growing team of volunteers ready to roll up their sleeves and serve.
Because when young people believe their ideas are possible, and have the tools and support to act on them, that’s when community change begins.

This school year, Youth Revive is reaching approximately 100 students across the DFW area with opportunities to learn, grow, and lead. And we’re just getting started.
