💖 This year’s Theme is Recontextualize / Romanticize. We want to take an active role in shaping our communities’ narrative and the image of “Asian American”. To recontextualize is to fundamentally change how an idea, object, or text is understood. We need to recontextualize because the Asian American identity is not a monolith and has been defined by folks who don’t think like us, live like us, or see like us. To romanticize is to examine any subject matter at its most idealistic form. To reclaim our narratives, we ask our community to define, reinterpret, and recontextualize romance. Who gets to choose between romanticizer and romanticized? What does romance, and more broadly love, mean within our community? Find out more about the theme on our application here 🔗 https://forms.gle/jgCWPp5yEbHE7WM8A

📣 The Warehouse Dallas Art Foundation (“The Warehouse”) is a jointly operated nonprofit art foundation in Dallas formed in 2024 by Howard Rachofsky and Thomas Hartland-Mackie. The foundation’s mission is to educate the public by creating exposure to new curatorial voices and exhibitions that prioritize experimentation and exploration, and to provide free educational programming and public open hours.

📣 About the Exhibition: For more than fifty years, Japanese artist Yosh*taka Amano has defied and transcended expectations of genre, style, medium, audience, and geography. Propelled by an unyielding pursuit of creative evolution, Amano’s output forms a vast universe in which narratives and motifs interweave, converse, and come apart across a variety of media. To match the scope of his career, the fifth iteration of WAREHOUSE:01—The Warehouse’s series of single-artist exhibitions—features two back-to-back presentations of Amano’s artwork.

💌SCHEDULE💌
1-2 PM - Tour of the Yosh*taka Amano exhibition by the Warehouse
2-3 PM - Self-Guided, Free Discovery of the Warehouse collection
3-4 PM - Coffee Shop Hangout (Optional, location TBD by our group based on vibes)
