Two Tiny Tails, One Big Mission: A Plea for Support.

Meet Delilah and Rufus, two dogs discovered within days of each other in critical condition, their lives hanging in the balance. How they survived is a testimony to their strength.

Delilah; Just 4lbs and approximately 3/5 yrs old.

Abandoned in a gutter and discovered by a UPS driver, Delilah was found emaciated, exhausted, and clearly suffering for an extended period. Her diminutive body bears testament to her tragic past, exhibiting numerous scars, nails ingrown into her paw pads, severe flea infestation, skin and eye infections, and a luxating patella.

Rufus; just 5lbs and approximately 7/9 yrs old.

Found in a residence by a medical professional mere days from succumbing to his condition, Rufus was suffering from starvation and had ingested an object that became lodged in his esophagus. His dental condition is dire, with teeth so decayed that he is unable to chew food properly. Following emergency surgery ($2900) to address the esophageal blockage, Rufus is now recovering from malnutrition and will require specialized dental care upon recovery due to stage 4 Periodontal Disease.

Both dogs desperately need full vetting including vaccinations, spay for Delilah and critical surgeries to rectify their myriad of health issues.
Despite their traumatic experiences, both Delilah and Rufus remain gentle and resilient, fighting for a second chance at life.

We extend our deepest gratitude to Alden Cuevas for sponsoring Delilah's initial veterinary visit and to Keesa Knowles for promptly intervening to save Rufus.

As we embark on the long journey of healing for these dogs, we are also desperate for help. Having undertaken numerous complex and heart-wrenching cases recently, our resources are currently depleted. Your contribution would be instrumental in enabling Wine to the Rescue to provide these dogs with the necessary medical care and comfort, paving the way for their eventual adoption.

We are devastated regarding the situation involving Snowy, a cat that was previously adopted through our organization, WTTR. Ten years ago, we rescued a mother cat and her seven kittens, all of whom were placed in carefully selected homes. Unfortunately, it appears that Snowy was surrendered to another rescue organization, and we are actively collaborating with them to ensure her proper care. Upon evaluation, Snowy was found to be underweight, infested with fleas, and infected with tapeworms. Additionally, her eyes are infected, and she is craving attention. Currently, Snowy is residing in a nurturing foster home, where her care is being fully covered by our organization. Her temperament is amiable, and she gets along well with other cats. Snowy is special as she is deaf but that doesn’t slow her down. Snowy will be ready for adoption soon, and interested parties are encouraged to contact us directly. It’s amazing what love can heal! Dante is thriving in his foster home! He is the sweetest, goofy boy! His wound is healing fantastically and he already is following commands (video in the comments). This boy will be neutered soon and ready for adoption! We are able to take these cases because of all of you! Thank you! Please share Dante as we know his forever home is out there! Puppy that was shot in the head is rescued.

Update on the sweet boy who was shot in the head. He had his follow up at Preston Royal Animal Clinic of Dallas, TX. Everyone fell in love with Dante (he has a name now). His wound is healing but he is still being watch closely for infection. He is in an amazing foster home and as soon as he’s healthy enough he will be neutered. Dante is now up to date on vaccinations and microchipped. This incredible boy radiates love for dogs, cats, and humans alike, showcasing impressive leash skills and potty training. Despite being just a year old and facing unimaginable challenges early on, Dante's spirit remains unbroken. With a heart full of love and resilience, he'll be ready to find his forever home soon! Witness his captivating smile - he is truly saved!

We've been actively working behind the scenes, including seeking a social media volunteer, while assisting numerous critical cases. We'll provide updates starting with this sweet boy. Yesterday, our team was alerted by a local rescue organization regarding a plea for help after posts on Nextdoor described three stray dogs roaming free, with reports suggesting this dog was shot in the head. We intervened to cover emergency veterinary costs. Fortunately, the bullet ricocheted off his skull, although it resulted in a fracture. He received treatment and was discharged last night. The positive note is that he tested negative for heartworms. Given his condition, we'll monitor him closely, and further evaluation may require a CT scan to check for potential fragments. Currently, he's in temporary foster care but urgently needs a committed foster home. All veterinary expenses will be covered. Please consider fostering. He’s estimated to be 1 year old and we know he will have no chance in the shelter. We will update on him soon including his name.
