Today is GivingTuesday and Moo requires our assistance. Moo is cared for by Ten Bells Tavern owner Meri, who is renowned for her dedication to felines. Meri provides care for numerous cats, and Moo holds a special place. Moo was discovered as a kitten with her mother and siblings under a truck, and Meri rescued the family, ensuring they received veterinary care. Unfortunately, Moo suffered a gunshot wound, and the bullet or pellet has migrated, causing spinal issues. The veterinarian believes Moo can regain mobility, but the bullet must be removed promptly. The estimated cost of the CT scan and surgery is $6-8K, with WTTR committing $1800. Meri is hosting a fundraising event at the restaurant, but urgent support is necessary. Please consider making a donation, as every contribution counts. Thank you for your love and support. (Estimate for CT attached surgery estimate is coming but they say $3-5K depending on anesthesia).

Who needs their own Superman puppy!! Meet Lola! Lola was found wandering the streets alone, skinny and scared. Dumped at 5 months old this puppy was lucky when one of our volunteers saw her. She is now completely vetted and ready for her forever family. Lola is now 8/9 months old, 15lbs, loves all dogs big and small, super sweet, potty trained and would do best with a playmate. Please share!

This girl!! She’s safe in an amazing temporary foster home. This is an update we received:

A few updates on Nellie this AM:
- great night, got up for one potty break and to let me know she could sleep outside the crate on a dog bed and she did so well
- appears potty trained, quick to go once outside
- just licked her bowl clean of meds, wet food and dry food
- she is easy to leash and walk, seems happy to see other dogs and people and fluctuates from a little prance to slower when her back end is sore
- she is wagging her tail and following me around so definitely a happy gal!
- my resident dog Rudy has been giving her space and I have them separate but she is very non reactive to him
- she knows the Sit command.

Nellie is on the road to recovery! She was fully vaccinated, bloodwork look great and HW-. She has a severe allergy to fleas so several hot spots. We are treating her skin issues and her soreness in her back leg. She’s incredibly sweet and will be an amazing addition to any family!

Immediate foster needed. Approximately 5 years old fully vetted but has skin issues due to severe fleas. This girl is incredibly sweet and dog friendly. If no foster steps up she goes back to DAS. (She was out on foster from DAS since March 2024.) The foster has been unresponsive to DAS and regardless due to the condition she was found in she will not go back there.) DAS will take back once intake is back open and i’m praying this village steps up first so she never sees a shelter again Who can be a hero today?? Meet Nellie! Please share!

This is the hardest post we've ever had to make.

First, we want to say how deeply sorry we are for our absence on this page. While we haven’t been sharing stories, we have remained active behind the scenes—helping save animals through our community outreach efforts. We promise to share those stories with you soon.

But today, we’re grieving.

On April 28th, we lost someone who meant everything to us—our Co-Founder, our greatest advocate, and a true lover of all animals. Rob Orsini wasn’t just part of this mission—he was the heart of it. He believed with every fiber of his being that every single animal deserved a chance. He personally drove to shelters, to vet appointments, and always encouraged us to take in the hardest cases—the ones no one else would. His heart was pure gold.

Rob’s passing has devastated all who knew and loved him.

This post is for him. For the man who led with compassion, who loved fiercely—his family, his friends, and every fur baby he met. We will be honoring Rob at our next WTTR event, and everything we do moving forward will be in his memory. If it weren’t for his passion, his belief in this mission, and his endless support, we wouldn’t be here.

If you knew Rob, you loved him—it was just that simple.

We’ll continue to honor him by saving the animals that need us most. Thank you for understanding and for being part of this journey with us. We can only imagine the joyful greeting he received at the Rainbow Bridge 🌈

Happy Mother’s Day to all the Moms and Fur Moms!

Our Director and Board member who has been a constant advocate for fostering and adopting seniors had to say goodbye to one of our original hospice dogs sweet 🐦 Birdie. While Birdie easily could have stayed under our rescue Jennifer Alicia wanted to fully adopt her which was absolutely the perfect match. Thank you Jennifer for all you do to save seniors (and all animals).

Adopting a senior dog is like finding a hidden treasure—a gem with a lifetime of love and stories waiting to be shared. When you adopt a senior dog, you're not just giving them a home…you're becoming part of their happy-ever-after.

The Story of Birdie
In April of 2021 someone in OC reported a stray dog on their front porch and said they can’t help her. I agreed to go try and catch her and Wine to the Rescue agreed to get her up to date with medical and we would get her adopted. There was no need to “catch” her as she ran right up to me and sat in my lap. She was covered in fleas (worst I have ever seen) and cancerous tumors all over her tummy, her female bits were protruding outwards and her back legs were so weak she could barely stand. Most likely kept in a cage, used for breeding and dumped. Long story short we got her tumors removed, got her spayed, fleas gone, and up to date on vaccinations. She then had an episode that led us to believe that most likely she had a brain tumor. At that moment I decided she would live her life, however long or short it may be with me, always being spoiled and surrounded by love. She did just that for the last 4 years. Today we said goodbye to Birdie, I held her in my arms and kissed her as she went to sleep. She was in end stage kidney disease and developed pancreatitis. Unfortunately, her numbers did not even register as they were so far off the charts. She had stopped eating and was in a lot of pain. I am so grateful this little shadow of mine, who always stared at me with the most dreamy eyes and unfortunate teeth, was my little Birdie-girl🐦 What Birdie can teach us is that even the senior dogs have lots of life left to live and even the sickest of dogs have lots of love left to give, all we can do is give them a chance.

We love you so much sweet Birdie give kisses to the rest of the crew over across that rainbow bridge, I know they were all waiting for you with wagging tails. 🌈💔
