This month is a reminder that mental health matters at every stage of the healing journey. At New Friends New Life, we see firsthand how access to trauma-informed mental health support can transform lives. In 2025, our licensed therapists provided nearly 2,000 counseling hours, helping our members process the trauma they experienced and move forward with hope.

Our recent ManKINDness Breakfast brought our community together to confront the realities of human trafficking in North Texas, and the ongoing need for awareness and survivor services, especially ahead of the increase in visitors to the area this summer. Our Men’s Advocacy Board Chair, Jeoff Williams, shared a compelling call to action to the men in the room, and our esteemed panelists shared in a thoughtful discussion.

During this National Teacher Appreciation Week, we’re celebrating the heart of NFNL’s Learning Academy. Under the leadership of Marie LeBlanc, Director of Integrated Learning, our academy is empowering survivors through GED certificate preparation, hospitality industry training, and college-readiness, and more, helping women and girls build their educational foundation. A big thank you to our educator, Marie, and to the volunteers who help teach and mentor our students with patience and excellence.💛

For the past two years, New Friends New Life has provided insight in support of the North Texas FWC Organizing Committee’s plan to address the increased risk of human trafficking cases this summer. The Beyond the Game event gave a glimpse into just how much effort and strategy has been put in place to help protect the human rights of some of our most vulnerable communities. NFNL CEO, Bianca Davis, shares more in this WFAA story.

Studies have shown that Texas ranks #2 in the United States for the most human trafficking activity: the DFW region is second only to Houston.
