THEY BELONG TOGETHER. ❤️

Cody doesn’t need someone new to love him.
He already has Carrie.

For the past two years, Carrie has fought tirelessly for Cody. She spent more than $23,000 on specialists and veterinary care, even consulting with the University of Tennessee, to finally get his severe medical issues under control.

Then they faced a different kind of challenge.

Cody was struggling with severe separation anxiety, fear surrounding veterinary care, and dog reactivity. Carrie was exhausted—emotionally and financially—but giving up on Cody was never what she wanted.

She just needed help.

Through iStayHome, The Love Pit helped fund a three-week board and train with one of our trusted training partners, giving Cody the support he needed and Carrie another chance to keep him exactly where he belongs.

Because sometimes rescue isn’t finding a dog a new family.

Hi, there. I’m Pippin, and I’m a professional shadow. I’ll follow you from room to room, flop down at your feet, and then lean all 85 pounds of myself against you because personal space is overrated. My ideal evening? You, me, a comfy floor, and zero plans.

I may be a senior but I still have plenty of pep in my step! I love chasing squirrels, going on walks, and being part of whatever you are doing. I’m wonderful with humans and love kids, but because of my prey drive, I need to be your one and only pet.

Hi, I'm Rosie Girl! And I've already mastered the art of being the perfect roommate.

No puppy chaos or expensive training. Just me, a good older girl happily hanging out with you with my perfectly good manners 🛋️💕

I've spent my whole life around people and kids, so I'm a total people girl. I love affection, I'm great with children, and I've lived happily with another dog, too. I'm still up for a little playtime when the mood strikes, but these days, I much prefer a good couch potato session.

Yes, DOG! Meet Rocky, a huffy, cuddly, cat-imitating genius. An expert napper, a tug-of-war enthusiast, and an excellent walking buddy.🚶‍♂️

He’s also cat-friendly and likes to think he lived the feline lifestyle. He’s 78lbs but in his brains, he’s a smallll kitty!. 😹

Rocky can be more timid around men, but will warm up with time and become the loyal cuddle buddy you’ve been waiting for. He is housetrained and low-key at home. Hes also veryyy food motivated. If you’re cooking, just remember: Puppy Tax is NOT optional.

Three years. Three years and five months to be exact.

That’s how long Alby has been a part of The Love Pit, patiently waiting for his chance at adoption.

Alby is not your typical “adoptable dog”, i.e:
- He’s not looking to cuddle
- He’s not excited to meet new people
- He’s not a patio pup or dog park guy 

But he’s a whole lot more than that.

Alby is athletic, adventurous, and driven. He wants purpose, he wants stimulation, and he wants to learn. He’d do well with someone who is active, wants a partner to join them on hikes, bike riding, ranch work - basically anything he can do to get outside and MOVE.

🦴 He’s a training PRO: figure 8, treadmill, leash, crate, and house trained
🦴 He’s comfortable with other dogs with proper guidance and intros but would be fine on his own
🦴 He’s best for adults or kids 12+ who can listen to his needs
🦴 He’s spent months & hours with a canine behavior expert who has transformed him into a strong, smart, and good dog.

It’s Alby’s turn to be in a forever home. Somewhere consistent, somewhere secure and somewhere that he can be loved. ❤️

Calling all fellow ADHD, never-sit-still, movers and shakers,😜, we’ve got the dog for you!

Meet Smuggler! A VERY active boy who is happiest when he’s running trails, playing fetch, learning a new activity. If you’ve ever wanted a dog who can keep up with your active lifestyle, he’s ready to be your adventure buddy. 🏃‍♀️🐶

Smuggler is a smart guy with a solid training foundation. He gets along great with people and other dogs. Older kids are more his speed because he can have A LOT of enthusiasm.

His human passed away unexpectedly, and been waiting for his next chapter ever since. He’s the same happy, loving boy, and is ready make new memories with someone who wants a dog who’s always down for the next adventure.

DFW Dog Lovers... a member of our community is asking for our help.

This is a situation we all hope never happens. A young woman in our community recently lost her housing and is working with CASA Collin County to find a new home that will accept her dog. In the meantime, one of her CASA volunteers has stepped up to keep him temporarily, but we need a dedicated foster that can temp foster him for up to 3 months while his owner gets back on her feet.

Jaul is a 6-month-old male mixed-breed puppy that's friendly and playful.

He is already kennel trained, potty trained, and sleeps through the night. His rabies vaccine is current, and we are working to confirm whether he needs any additional vaccinations.

We’re hoping to find someone who can give this sweet guy a safe place to land for about 3 months, so he and his person have the chance to stay together forever.

Have you heard of “black dog theory”? 🐕‍🦺🐾

It’s a theory that says black dogs tend to wait longer to be adopted. We’ve seen it time after time, and we want it to stop with Skye. She is the only puppy of her four sisters who hasn’t received any interest. At 3 1/2 months old, it’s time for her to find her forever.

Skye is fun, athletic, smart, full of personality, adventurous, and good with other dogs. And so, we can’t help but wonder if being a “basic black dog” is causing people to overlook her.

But there is nothing basic about this girl. 🖤 She’s so deserving of a family who sees just how special she is.

🖤 smart, food motivated, and eager to learn
🖤 house trained, crate trained, knows “sit,” and walks nicely on leash
🖤 thrives on a healthy mix of exercise, training, clear boundaries, and rest
🖤 would love to live with an older, wiser resident dog who can be a good role model 
🖤 enjoys older kids and open to meeting youngins’ with slow intros
