Take a look at Grandma Linda’s story!
For the past five years, Grandma Linda has faithfully brought her grandchildren to Brother Bill’s Helping Hand summer camps. What began with her oldest grandchild, McKinley, at just five years old has now grown into a family tradition. McKinley, who is now aging out of the program, looks back fondly on her summers with us, while her younger siblings are just beginning their own camp journeys.
This past summer, Grandma Linda’s youngest, only four years old, attended his very first camp—continuing a relationship that began when our team first knew him as a newborn. In total, five of her grandchildren now participate, each finding their own joy and favorite activities. Her girls especially love the dance and cheer camp, while all of them eagerly anticipate the variety of programs offered each year.
Grandma Linda shares that her grandchildren “beg to come to camp” and that McKinley is heartbroken knowing she will soon be too old to attend. Over the years, our Youth & Children’s Program Director has built a deep relationship with the family, ensuring that each child feels welcomed, encouraged, and part of a caring community.
For Grandma Linda, our camps are more than summer activities—they are cherished experiences that bring joy, growth, and lasting memories for her grandchildren.
