In 2009, our family received devastating news when my sister, Felicia, was diagnosed with a rare form of ovarian cancer. It is called Sertoli-Leydig cell tumor and there is no known cure. Early detection is best, but unfortunately she was misdiagnosed for a year and a half. Over these years she has endured 9 major surgeries, more than 20 medical procedures, 3 different chemotherapy regimens and se
rious medical complications including life-threatening blood clots. To this date, no treatment has stopped her cancer from returning and now even more rapidly than ever. Somehow through all of this she has managed to remain positive and high-spirited. Her abundant strength, endless energy and great sense of humor has been an inspiration to her loving family and circle of friends. In fact, everyone who meets her is quickly drawn in by her sharp wit, lively personality and caring heart. As her 27th birthday approaches on February 5th, Felicia is currently hospitalized and facing another major surgery to save her precious life. However, we have found a new hope and possible cure for Felicia through an exciting new clinical trial only at MD Anderson. In this critical moment we now turn to our community to help fund medical expenses including present medical bills, her 10th major surgery and any medical expenses during the 6 week research study. We are so appreciative of any support from our community that will help us to win Felicia's fight.
