🦪 Big win for Texas oyster reefs! The S. Reed Morian Oyster Buyback Program completed its second round of oyster license buybacks on May 15 with 46 more commercial licenses slated to be purchased — bringing the total to nearly 30% of all Texas oyster licenses removed from the fishery since the buyback program launched last year. This public-private partnership between Texas Parks and Wildlife and TPWF is making a significant impact in reducing the pressure on this fragile resource.

The initiative was made possible by key funders Laurie and S. Reed Morian Foundation and the Coastal Conservation Association, with support from The Brown Foundation, the Earl C. Sams Foundation, Jeffery and Mindy Hildebrand, Beaver and Joanie Aplin, John and Mary Eads, and Bobby and Sherri Patton. As the official nonprofit partner of Texas Parks and Wildlife, we bridge the gap between private philanthropy and public conservation. Whether it’s restoring native habitats, funding state-of-the-art game warden equipment, or expanding public lands, we believe taking care of Texas is a shared responsibility. Mark your calendar! On June 17-18, TPWF is offering a chance to win a once-in-a-lifetime desert bighorn sheep hunt, all while supporting two great causes: TPWF’s Desert Bighorn Sheep initiative to pursue long-term species restoration and the S. Reed Morian Gear Up for Game Wardens program to help ensure Texas Game Wardens ’ safety while serving and protecting the wild things, wild places, and people of Texas.

Place your best bid on a priceless opportunity to hunt a trophy desert bighorn ram on the historic Circle Ranch in the heart of the Sierra Diablo Mountains, generously donated by the Honorable Robert L. “Bobby” Patton, Jr., Texas Parks and Wildlife Commissioner.

Snake season is here!
As temperatures rise, snakes become more active across Texas' wild places. While most snake encounters are harmless, staying alert and giving wildlife plenty of space helps ensure a safe and enjoyable outdoor adventure.

We invest in transformative, science-based efforts to be responsible stewards of our lands and waters, conserving the wild things and wild places Texans love. This means helping to ensure vanishing habitats will be conserved and not developed, when possible.
