Programs and Ac
tivities:
Online Bible Studies are uniquely designed for people with physical disabilities and those impacted (caregivers, family, and friends). Online bible studies remove the need for transportation and make them convenient to watch at their convenience increasing the odds of hearing the "Good News" of the Gospel. Respite Dinners give caregivers a night off from preparing a meal for the person they are caring for and for themselves. A 3 course chef-prepared family style dinner are delivered to your home and ready to eat. Meals are created by ChefNIC & Company, https://www.chefnic.com
Fellowship Lunches help combat the isolation that people living with a physical disability and their caregivers can experience from not connecting with others in the community. The lunches provide the opportunity to have fellowship with others who can empathize with their circumstances and build lasting relationships to help encourage one another. Social Outings are opportunities for those living with a disability to go out in public as a group and overcome the fear of social stigmas, build confidence and just be with others who know what it is like. The Social Outings are all set up and everything is taken care of to make sure the facility can accomodate someone in a wheelchair or other needs they may have. Quality of Life Grants are for people in our community struggling to pay for necessary expenses, including but not limited to medical supplies, adaptive equipment or unexpected events. (Eligibility requirements apply)
Virtual Small Groups help build community with others who can empathize with having a disability or caring for someone with a disability by discussing the Bible studies. The small groups being virtual removes the barriers of not having transportation or living far from the group. Meet the two Co-Founders of ABLE Faith:
Jose Guadalupe Martinez and Riley Joe Sprowl
Jose Guadalupe Martinez: While working for more than a decade as a personal trainer for people with disabilities, Jose developed a passion for helping his clients become more independent and improve their quality of life. He reconized most families that have a healthy support system and faith in the Lord had a better outlook on life. Jose is inspired by helping others see the light of Jesus by random and intentional act of kindness. A native of Houston, Jose lives in Allen, Texas with his wife and two children. An avid sports enthusiast, Jose began collecting athletic sneakers when his parents bought him his first pair of basketball shoes in 1992. He wears his collection, unlike most collectors, but has been known to give pairs away to people who appreciate them as much as he does. Jose graduated from the University of Houston - Clear Lake with a Bachelor of Science in Health and Human Performance. Riley Joe Sprowl
In December of 2013, when Riley was 16 and a junior in high school he was instantly paralyzed while sledding with friends. In an instant his life changed forever and he had to learn to navigate in a world that can be challenging to those living with a disability. Riley's faith, determination, family, friends and a community that supported him helped him overcome the obstacles he faced. Riley always had a compassion to help others and his SCI did not change that. Riley realized there are so many people who are injured that do not have the same support system he has and he wanted a way to change that and help others. Riley graduated from Van Alstyne high school on time with his class in 2015. He took time off to focus on his physical therapy before starting college. Riley will graduate with honors from the University of North Texas in the spring of 2023 with a Bachelor of Science in Integrated Studies and Sociology.
