FREE Homeowner Workshop in West Dallas!

Join the Homestead Preservation Center on Tuesday, October 20th from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM at 3107 N. Winnetka Ave, Dallas, TX 75212.

Learn the basics of budgeting for home expenses, building healthy savings habits, and reducing household costs. We’ll also cover simple, low-cost weatherization and home repair techniques to help improve your home’s comfort and energy efficiency.

Presented in partnership with Chase Bank and Builders of Hope CDC. This workshop is free and open to all homeowners. For questions, call 214-742-6674 ext. 113. We hope to see you there!

Wesley-Rankin is hiring for three full-time positions supporting our work in West Dallas and Pleasant Grove!

Volunteer Manager - recruits, onboards, and supports individual, corporate, church, and school volunteers, matches them with program needs, and manages our social media and website. Some evenings and weekends.

Receptionist - the first point of contact for everyone who visits or calls our West Dallas Campus, and the person who helps our whole team stay organized day to day. Mon-Fri, 9-5. Bilingual English/Spanish required.

Senior Director of Programs - leads program directors across both campuses, uses data to strengthen outcomes, and represents WRCC with community partners. 5+ years of program leadership required.

This isn’t Wesley-Rankin. This is.

Our building is where the work happens, but it has never been what makes Wesley-Rankin. Wesley-Rankin is a volunteer sitting one-on-one with a student to finish their first resume. It’s a staff member walking a family through a property tax appeal so they can stay in the home they’ve had for generations. It’s a parent and a child learning financial literacy side by side. It’s the neighbors who keep showing up because they believe in this community as much as we do.

That’s what we’re bringing to Pleasant Grove. A new location is exciting, but the real growth is cultivating the community, resources, and relationships that make Wesley-Rankin special.  Wherever we go, the people are what make Wesley-Rankin.

Nuestro edificio es donde sucede el trabajo, pero nunca ha sido lo que define a Wesley-Rankin. Wesley-Rankin es un voluntario que se sienta uno a uno con un estudiante para terminar su primer currículum. Last year, 210 women in West Dallas completed 3,914 hours of learning through our Adult Academy. We're proud to share that the H100 Latina Giving Circle at Texas Women's Foundation has awarded Wesley-Rankin $7,000 to support the Adult Academy in 2026.

With this support, over 200 Hispanic/Latina women will build skills in financial literacy and workforce development at Wesley-Rankin Community Center. Offered at no cost to families, these practical courses open doors to a living wage and lasting generational wealth.

Since 2012, the Adult Academy has served Latina mothers and caregivers with courses taught in Spanish and English. On-site childcare is available at every session, so parents don't have to choose between learning and caring for their families.

When a mother builds her savings, her children grow up in a more stable home. That change reaches entire households across West Dallas. Thank you, H100 Latina Giving Circle and Texas Women's Foundation, for investing in the women who hold West Dallas families together.

El año pasado, 210 mujeres de West Dallas completaron 3,914 horas de aprendizaje en nuestro Adult Academy. Nos da mucho gusto compartir que el H100 Latina Giving Circle de Texas Women’s Foundation otorgó $7,000 a Wesley-Rankin para apoyar el Adult Academy en 2026.

Con este apoyo, más de 200 mujeres latinas desarrollarán habilidades en educación financiera y desarrollo laboral, sin costo para sus familias. Estos cursos abren camino hacia un salario digno y un patrimonio duradero para las próximas generaciones.

Desde 2012, el Adult Academy apoya a madres y cuidadoras latinas con clases en español e inglés y cuidado infantil en cada sesión, para que no tengan que elegir entre aprender y cuidar a su familia.

In partnership with Builders of Hope and SMU Dedman School of Law Legal Clinics, we are hosting a FREE Property Inheritance Workshop in West Dallas! 🏡

Is your home's title still in the name of a family member who has passed away? Without clear title, it can be harder to apply for homestead exemptions, get help with property taxes or home repairs, or pass your home on to the next generation. Taking care of it now helps keep your home in your family.

At this workshop, you'll learn the key steps to secure your property rights as an heir and protect your family's future. After the presentation, volunteer attorneys and law students will answer your questions one-on-one.

September's Volunteer of the Month goes to Jay Velazquez! Jay's connection to Wesley-Rankin goes back to her childhood. Her dad, who came here himself, sent Jay and her siblings to Wesley-Rankin as kids so they'd stay connected to the community. Now she's come full circle.

Today, Jay volunteers with our Afterschool Program, where she enjoys the nostalgia of being back and shares plenty of laughs with the kids.

"Being able to continue to give back to my community and show the kids love and support like I was shown when I was little, and how Wesley has been for many generations."

Jay, thank you for sharing your time, energy, and heart with our kids. We're so grateful to see you carrying on a Wesley-Rankin tradition that spans generations.

This school year, 101 students in Kindergarten through 12th grade are taking part in our Afterschool program, where they receive academic support, literacy intervention, a nutritious dinner, and new experiences that go beyond the classroom.

Students are already jumping into interest-based clubs like guitar, running, and computer coding. Each student participates in at least four clubs each week. These clubs give students the freedom to explore what interests them and try something new. Because clubs run all semester, students have time to grow in something they care about and discover skills they may not have known they had.

We’re excited for another year of Afterschool and all the experiences it will bring for our students and the people supporting them along the way.

Este año escolar, 101 estudiantes de kínder a 12.º grado participan en nuestro programa de después de la escuela, donde reciben apoyo académico, intervención en lectoescritura, una cena nutritiva y nuevas experiencias que van más allá del salón de clases.

Los estudiantes ya se están integrando con entusiasmo a clubes según sus intereses, como guitarra, correr y programación. Cada estudiante participa en al menos cuatro clubes por semana. Estos clubes les dan la libertad de explorar lo que les interesa y probar algo nuevo. Como los clubes duran todo el semestre, los estudiantes tienen tiempo para crecer en algo que les importa y descubrir habilidades que quizá no sabían que tenían.

Nos emociona comenzar otro año del programa de después de la escuela y todas las experiencias que traerá para nuestros estudiantes y para las personas que los apoyan en el camino.

Last week, Wesley-Rankin held its first-ever adult education class in Pleasant Grove!

Pleasant Grove families asked for a cooking class, and 23 adults came out for a healthy cooking demonstration. They left with new recipes and skills to bring home to their own kitchens.

The class was taught by two Wesley-Rankin Adult Academy graduates who first learned these skills in our West Dallas nutrition classes and were excited to share them with a new community.

This class kicks off a pilot program in Pleasant Grove, and we're looking forward to getting to know more families here as classes continue. ¡La semana pasada, Wesley-Rankin realizó su primera clase de educación para adultos en Pleasant Grove!

Las familias de Pleasant Grove pidieron una clase de cocina, y 23 adultos asistieron a una demostración de cocina saludable. Se llevaron nuevas recetas y habilidades para aplicar en sus propias cocinas.

La clase fue impartida por dos graduados de Adult Academy de Wesley-Rankin, quienes aprendieron estas habilidades en nuestras clases de nutrición en West Dallas y estaban emocionados de compartirlas con una nueva comunidad.

Today's the day! North Texas Giving Day is here, and thanks to our Board of Directors' $110,000 match, every gift to Wesley-Rankin goes twice as far.

Think of the Bolins, three generations strong in their support and dedication to Wesley-Rankin and the West Dallas community.

The Barajas family has grown here too. Grandmother Edelmira found community through Casa Feliz. Her granddaughters found their own paths through Afterschool and Scholars, one of them stepping up as a classroom leader along the way, and Ashley and Fernanda using our Driver's License Program to open the door to better jobs.

Different families, different chapters, same place they call home. That's what Wesley-Rankin means: an impact that lasts more than one lifetime.
