Our 6th year of operation was unique and special! Two eye surgery events and one family-focused dental clinic in Bocas del Toro. It was such a gift to share our joy of bringing healing to Panama with new people and see the impact of kindness on a younger generation. We are also so proud of our Panamanian Scholarship students, Katherine and Genesis, who started their first semester at UT Southern

Four years ago we brought President Boyd to visit one of our favorite places in Panama with some of the kindest most deserving people. He was moved to offer 5 students a university scholarship and today two of those students completed all the steps and hurdles to start their journey as full time college students. I was so proud to be there to cheer them on.

During our family dental mission in July we met with their families, and took them home with us through Atlanta International Airport. They’ve spent the past three weeks preparing for school with multiple church ministries providing support and supplies. We were happy to contribute to their education with two brand new laptops, shoes and clothing for the change in weather!

The first Trump administration vowed to finally end the American H.I.V. epidemic, no later than 2030, by doubling down on prevention efforts in the hardest hit communities. The resulting initiative has clearly paid off: Transmission rates are down in the targeted ZIP codes, according to the National Minority AIDS Council, a nonprofit devoted to stopping the virus’s spread. Racial health gaps are narrowing as a result, and because prevention is cheaper than treatment, money is being saved.

The second Trump administration seems determined to reverse course anyway.
