HAPPY !! 💚💙💚 The first Earth Day took place in 1970 and mobilized millions of Americans for the protection of the planet. Since that time, Earth Day has increased awareness on pollution, climate change, endangered species, and many other environmental issues. Here are some simple ways you and your family can help protect our Earth every day:
• Reduce, reuse, and recycle. Cut down on what you buy and what you throw away. Follow the three "R's" to conserve natural resources and landfill space.
• Volunteer for cleanups in your community/get involved in protecting your watershed.
• Educate. When you further your own education, you can help others understand the importance and value of our natural resources.
• Conserve water. The less water you use, the less runoff and wastewater that eventually end up in the ocean.
• Choose sustainable, in the foods, clothes and products you purchase.
• Shop wisely. Buy less plastic and bring a reusable shopping bag.
• Plant a tree. Trees provide food and oxygen. They help save energy, clean the air, and help combat climate change.
• Don't send chemicals into our waterways. Choose non-toxic chemicals in the home and office.
• Bike and walk more. Drive less.

Look at this absolute stunner at Glencoe Park! 👀🤩

Happening this week, the "Four Chromatic Gates" (formerly at Energy Square) is getting a new home at our beloved Glencoe, and installation officially started today!

By next week, the southwest corner of Glencoe will be completely transformed with:

✅ A new sitting and viewing area
✅ Two new benches
✅ Additional lighting
✅ Crushed granite ground covering
✅ Commemorative plaques
✅ Fresh coats of paint on the sculpture

We just love public art in Council District 14, and this will be a great new spot to hang out, bring the kids, or just enjoy a pop of color in this vibrant park.

Huge thanks to the University Crossing Public Improvement District (UCPID) and their partners for making this happen for our park! ❤🌳
