Juneteenth is a celebration of freedom, truth, and the enduring fight for liberation.

On June 19, 1865, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed, enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas, were finally informed of their freedom. Juneteenth stands as both a celebration and a reminder: freedom delayed is still freedom demanded.

As efforts to ban books and silence Black history continue, we are reminded that the fight for freedom includes the freedom to read, to learn, and to tell our stories fully.

Today, we honor the ancestors who endured, the voices who persisted, and the generations still rising.

Kappa Kamp Leadership Program Returns to Jackson for Special 30th Anniversary Experience

JACKSON, Miss. — The nationally respected Kappa Kamp Leadership Program is making an exciting return to Jackson, Mississippi, as part of its historic 30th Anniversary celebration.

This summer, the program will host a special leadership and career development experience on the campus of Jackson State University from June 28 – July 3, 2026.

Designed for a select group of 25 scholars, the week-long residential experience will provide young men with powerful opportunities to grow academically, socially, and professionally while preparing for future success in college, careers, and leadership.

For three decades, Kappa Kamp has focused on developing young leaders through mentorship, education, discipline, and exposure to life-changing opportunities. The return to Jackson represents a major investment in the future of students throughout the region while reconnecting the program to one of Mississippi’s most historic educational communities.

Participants will engage in an intensive curriculum centered around:

College and Career Readiness
Financial Literacy
STEM and Innovation
Leadership Development
Team Building
ACT/SAT Preparation
Sports and Wellness
Exposure to Emerging Opportunities in the Jackson Area
The program’s leadership believes this special Jackson initiative will help identify and develop future leaders while exposing students to pathways that strengthen talent throughout the city and surrounding communities.

“This return to Jackson is extremely meaningful as we celebrate 30 years of impacting young men through the Kappa Kamp Leadership Program,” said Maurice A. West, National Committee Chairman and Executive Director.

“We are committed to creating an environment where students can grow, learn, and be inspired to pursue excellence while building relationships that will benefit them long after the program concludes.”

The total cost to attend is $750 per participant, which includes:

Housing
Meals
Transportation
Program Materials
Staffing and Supervision
Activities and Support Services
Scholarships and financial assistance are not available for students wishing to attend.

Space is limited and early registration is strongly recommended.

Kappa Kamp Dallas 2026 was far more than a summer leadership program. Over the last two weeks, we built relationships, challenged young men to think differently, and created an environment centered on leadership, accountability, brotherhood, and opportunity.

From college and career readiness sessions to STEM, financial literacy, team building, mentorship, and personal growth experiences, our young leaders were exposed to lessons that will continue to impact their lives long after they return home. Every conversation, workshop, campus visit, and moment of fellowship helped prepare them for the next level of success.

What made this experience truly special was the collective commitment from so many people who poured into our scholars. Parents trusted us with their sons. Volunteers gave their time and wisdom. Staff members worked tirelessly behind the scenes. Members of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. continued the proud tradition of Guide Right and mentorship. Paul Quinn College provided a powerful environment where excellence, faith, leadership, and opportunity were on full display. Together, everyone involved helped create memories, relationships, and life-changing experiences that will never be forgotten.

As we close out Kappa Kamp Dallas 2026, we celebrate not only what was accomplished, but also what lies ahead. The future is bright for every young man who participated in this year’s program. We encourage families, supporters, community leaders, and future Kampers to begin planning now for June 2027 as we continue building leaders, creating exposure, and developing the next generation of young men prepared to lead in their schools, communities, and beyond. Thank you for helping make 2026 an unforgettable year. The journey continues.
