The U.S. leads as the largest advertising market worldwide, spending over $242.5 B annually. Companies and individuals spend so much time and money trying to persuade others to be followers and consumers of their brand. It makes me pause and think, as Christians, how do we compare,in terms of resources and efforts spent on trying to persuade others to be followers of Christ? ...

We live in a fallen world where the Evil is running rampant. It’s easy to get discouraged and be tempted to feel that it is hopeless, but it definitely is not hopeless! We who know Jesus can lean on the eternal joy of the Lord, for He already has the victory, and Evil will be put in his place along with all who follow him....

Being left behind is scary. It’s lonely and fearful, I’ll say it. Whether it was losing your mom at the grocery store or your friends failing to grab you before going out on a weekend night, there is a feeling of panic, and many questions flood the scene. You try to make sense of it all, probably assuming not just the worst of those who love and care for you, but the worst about yourself....

Allow me to paint you a picture. You are in a crisis. You desperately need Gods help. You are stressed out and consumed with your problem. You ask again and again, for God to help you, even though He heard you the first time you asked. Then He says, “Let’s have lunch.” He prepares a table and a meal, to sit and fellowship....

Shame is the silent killer. I can sit in a car with it for far too long, unaware of its presence, but sitting there breathing it in. One little tear down of myself, or one little fear spiral of a worst-case-scenario. It’s not a big deal, right? I assume everyone has these kinds of insecurities. Like carbon monoxide, it’s imperceptible, until the poison has begun to set in....

This year, God is using the winter season to take me through a time of transition and refinement. He is using this time, as He does in nature with plants and certain animals, to make me dormant. Not in the sense that I am not productive, for even when plants are dormant, it is not a ceasing of their functioning; it is merely a reduction of their metabolic functions for the purpose of refueling and rebuilding them in order to prepare for the next season of growth.

Are you feeling as if your spiritual growth is stunted? Have you noticed that you are searching for spiritual fulfillment? If so, maybe you’re finding yourself, right now, in a state of spiritual dormancy. If so, God is calling you to use this season in your life to refuel, rebuild, and reconnect to His calling for you in His Kingdom.

I have identified 10 action steps that will help you in discerning and finding purpose in this season.

For me, winter is a time of reflection. Maybe, it’s that culturally we are told that new year is a good time to think about where we have been and make new resolutions. Maybe, it is because I am not a fan of the colder temperatures; therefore, I am more apt to stay inside and be more sedentary. This usually leads me to think and reflect more....
