As Childhood Cancer Awareness Month comes to a close, we’re reflecting on a September filled with remembrance, connection, advocacy—and meaningful steps forward.

In August, Kham’s House proudly joined the North Texas Childhood Cancer Coalition (NTXCCC), expanding our connection to a community working to support children and families affected by childhood cancer. This month, we also showed up alongside fellow advocates at the DFW Hero Games, hosted by Heroes for Children, supporting Texas families impacted by childhood cancer.

And then there was Washington, D.C.
At CureFest for Childhood Cancer, September 18–20, the Tribute Wall honored thousands of childhood cancer fighters, survivors, and angels—including Khamron Dawson.

His photo was placed on the wall through a beautiful act of remembrance, then captured for us by Syr Sanders-Bailey, sister of Paula Sanders of the Jason Alex Davis II Foundation . We are deeply grateful that Kham was remembered and represented among so many lives that continue to matter. 💛🎗️🌻

There is also a powerful connection between this work and Kham’s House’s AYA mission:

Osteosarcoma is most common in adolescents and young adults. The National Cancer Institute estimates about 440 cases of osteosarcoma are diagnosed each year in people age 19 and younger in the United States.

Khamron was diagnosed with osteosarcoma at 18—an age that sits within the AYA community while also intersecting with pediatric/childhood cancer care and advocacy. His story reminds us that the lines between childhood, adolescent, and AYA cancer communities can intersect—and young people deserve support wherever those lines meet.

So we close this month not simply looking back, but moving forward:
🌻 Remembering those we've lost.�🎗️ Honoring those still fighting and those who survived.�💛 Supporting families.�💙 Building connections.�📣 Raising awareness.�🤝 Strengthening our partnerships.�✨ Continuing the work.
September may be ending, but the commitment continues.

For Kham. For the children. For the adolescents. For the young adults. For the families. For every community touched by childhood and AYA cancer.
We keep showing up. We keep moving forward. We stay .

You name it…they probably had it! 😂🍳🥓🥯🍗

Sunday brunch at Chicken N Pickle - Allen was a whole experience—and we came ready to eat, connect, advocate, and celebrate Kham’s House!

From pizza and chicken & waffles to smoked salmon, shrimp cocktail, avocado toast, an omelette station, fresh fruit, biscuits, bacon, bagels, cookies and more…a time was definitely had! 🙌🏽

But beyond the food, we loved getting to meet fellow brunch guests, share our Kham’s House Awareness Ribbon 🎗️, explain the meaning behind our double ribbon representing sarcoma + childhood cancer awareness, and thank people for supporting our mission—even when they didn't realize they were supporting us simply by showing up.

And of course, the baby had her camera ready to document her own POV! 📸🎥💕

A special thank-you to everyone who joined us and to Chicken N Pickle Allen for giving back 10% of Sunday brunch sales and drinks to Kham’s House.

Good food. Good people. Good cause.�And a time was had. 💛💚

What does it mean to be ?�
It means choosing hope, honoring every journey, advocating for AYA voices, and showing up with compassion. It means supporting one another, opening doors, raising awareness, and giving generously.
KhamStrong is more than a word—it’s a way we champion the AYA community. 💛🌻

Keep hope alive. Stand together. Give hope.

What does hope mean when life has changed forever?

For Geraldine D. Cockerham, Kham’s House Advisory Board Member and Prayer Committee member, hope is faith in action—being present, encouraging others, helping them move forward, and reminding them that they are not alone.

Hope does not mean the absence of grief or hardship. It gives us something to hold onto through them.

For families facing cancer and serious illness, a word of encouragement, a helping hand, a prayer, or simply showing up can become a source of strength when the journey feels heavy.

As Geraldine Cockerham reminds us, “Hope is the blueprint to our faith.”

At Kham’s House, we believe hope is something we can share, carry, and give to one another. Together, we can help families hold on to hope. 💛🌻🎗️

What a day of showing up, giving, sharing, encouraging, and believing in the work of Kham’s House. 🌻🎗️

To every donor, volunteer, partner, advocate, friend, family member, and supporter who contributed in any way during this harvesting season—thank you.

Every act of generosity is part of the harvest, and we’re grateful for every person who chose to be part of it.
