St. Philip & St. Augustine Catholic Academy (SPSA) serves children from pre-kindergarten through eighth grade in one of Southeast Dallas’ most economically challenged neighborhoods. While the school produces strong academic outcomes, many students arrive each day facing a fundamental barrier to learning: hunger. Teachers regularly encounter children whose lunch consists of little more than a piece of bread, making it difficult to concentrate, engage, and succeed in the classroom.

Crystal Charity Ball funding will support the renovation and expansion of the school’s kitchen and dining facilities, enabling SPSA to participate fully in the federal free and reduced-price meal program for the first time. Once complete, the school will provide every enrolled student with two hot, nutritious meals each school day – breakfast and lunch.

Since 2003, Mercy Street has walked alongside children and families in West Dallas, offering Christ-centered mentorship, leadership development, and athletic programming rooted in long-term relationships and trust. Over time, a critical insight emerged: mentorship alone was not enough. Children also needed structured, ongoing academic support to reinforce learning and to close persistent gaps.

Crystal Charity Ball funding will establish and expand a high-quality Summer Camp and After-School Program at Mercy Street’s Lakewest Multipurpose Center. Beginning with 50 students and scaling to 300 over three years, this initiative strengthens learning, stability, and hope for West Dallas youth.

Jubilee Park & Community Center has served families in Southeast Dallas for 29 years, providing holistic support that strengthens education, health, housing stability, and workforce readiness. Jubilee has identified a pressing need for expanded, age-appropriate programming for middle and high school students.

Crystal Charity Ball funding will support the creation of The Jubilee Teen Collective, including the expansion of a dedicated Teen Center and the launch of enhanced academic and enrichment programming. This new 4,200-square-foot facility will provide a safe, welcoming space where teens can study, receive tutoring, prepare for college, and develop leadership skills.

For more than 40 years, Equest has partnered with horses to improve the lives of children and adults with physical, cognitive, and emotional challenges.

Crystal Charity Ball funding will expand Equest’s equine-assisted programs for children, including therapeutic riding, physical and occupational therapy, equine-facilitated counseling, literacy outreach, and community engagement. The investment supports the purchase and maintenance of therapy horses, miniature horses for outreach and reading programs, a van, and facilities needed to serve more children safely and consistently.

As one of the largest shelters in North Texas, Dallas LIFE serves men, women, and families experiencing homelessness through an approach that emphasizes dignity, accountability, and care. Unlike many shelters, Dallas LIFE keeps families together whenever possible, recognizing that stability and consistency are essential for children’s emotional and developmental health.

Crystal Charity Ball funding will expand and strengthen the Kids LIFE program, which provides coordinated early childhood and youth services for children from infancy through high school.

Catch Up & Read is dedicated to ensuring that children from underserved communities read on grade level by the end of third grade, a pivotal milestone when students transition from learning to read to reading to learn. Students who are not reading proficiently by the end of third grade are four times less likely to graduate high school.

With this investment, approximately 84 teachers will receive specialized training, improving literacy instruction for nearly 1,850 students in grades one through three.

Early intervention creates readers and opportunities.

Baylor University Medical Center is dedicated to delivering compassionate, high-quality care to patients across North Texas. For many patients undergoing ongoing medical treatment, access to care is too often compromised by a lack of safe, affordable childcare during medical appointments.
Crystal Charity Ball funding will support the creation of a new, innovative on-site childcare facility designed to ensure that patients no longer have to choose between attending essential medical care and caring for their children.
