We're stronger together! Our mission is to increase Breast Cancer survivorship, prevention & access to educational resources. With the support of the Mary Bird Perkins Center, The Methodist Health Center & The Dallas Foundation, we aim to diagnose, treat & prevent Breast Cancer from controlling the livelihood of women across the U.S. The Bradie James Foundation 56 is proud to partner with institutions paving the way for breast cancer prevention with innovative technology & breakthrough treatment programs. Discovering cancers in the earliest stage through screenings can help lead to better outcomes, making it extremely important for the community to get screened for appropriate cancers. Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center and Bradie James’ Foundation 56, will host free breast and colorectal cancer screenings on Friday, Dec. 3, 9 a.m.-2 p.m. in the Walmart parking lot, 2701 Louisville Ave. in Monroe.

These screenings are made possible through a generous donation from former LSU linebacker Bradie James, a Prevention Partner of the Cancer Center. In August, James donated $50,000 to Mary Bird Perkins in honor of his mother who succumbed to breast cancer. Established in 2007, he established Foundation 56 to help fight the disease by raising money to benefit early detection efforts.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month has come and gone, but that’s no reason to stop raising awareness for yourself or loved ones. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention revealed breast cancer screenings declined 87% during the peak of the pandemic, and numbers have yet to recover. Breast Cancer prevention within the pandemic landscape has revealed why it’s vitally important to get an annual mammogram & aid in early detection.

October is celebrated as a National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, where people from all over the world recognize the seriousness of this condition and show their support for patients affected by breast cancer. According to the WHO, there were 2.3 million women diagnosed with breast cancer and 700,000 deaths caused by breast cancer globally in 2020. Breast cancer is also the most prevalent cancer worldwide, and there are eight million women living with breast cancer who were diagnosed in the past five years. Women have lost more disability-adjusted life years to breast cancer than to any other type of cancer.
As we celebrate breast cancer awareness month, it's imperative to continue public health awareness programs and fundraisers, facilitate and improve the breast cancer screening/detection process, and support those who have battled this disease.
