It’s no secret that JV McRae Foundation is passionate about promoting literacy and inspiring a lifelong love of reading by placing books into the hands of students. So when the opportunity arose to read to students participating in Hamilton Park United Methodist Church’s Freedom School, it was an easy “yes!”

Foundation Founder Velena L. McRae had the pleasure of sharing “Race to Kindness” by Orion Jean, TIME Magazine’s 2021 Kid of the Year. The inspiring story invites children to join a race where kindness begins, everyone is welcome, and everyone WINS!

The students were engaged, enthusiastic and reminded that even the smallest act of kindness can make a lasting difference. At JV McRae Foundation, we believe that books have the power to educate, inspire, and transform lives, and we are honored to continue investing in the next generation - one story at a time.
