YBLOC mourns the passing of the Rev. Jesse Jackson, a titan in the fight for inclusive democracy. From “I am somebody” to “Keep hope alive,” Rev. Jackson articulated—and personified—the resolve of a people determined to be heard. He was a vital bridge between the hard-won passage of the Voting Rights Act of 1965 and the expansion of institutional political power for Black communities. We are all deeply indebted to him, and we are committed to carrying forward his work to make the promise of democracy real for all. We send our deepest condolences to the Jackson family.

📣📣 Get ready, get ready, get ready — YBLOC’s inaugural Democracy Sunday is launching in Dallas on Sunday, February 15!

Building on our longstanding voter education work in Black faith communities, YBLOC is proud to unveil this new nonpartisan initiative to strengthen civic power and ensure our communities are informed and prepared ahead of the 2026 Texas primaries.

With local support from , the African American bar association of Dallas, as well as law students from SMU and UNT Dallas, we’ll be in 15 churches across the DFW metroplex this Sunday to help empower Black voters.

Dallas is just the kickoff — YBLOC will be taking Democracy Sunday on the road, bringing voter education and civic engagement to other faith communities across the nation. ✊🏾

Across the South, the fight for fair maps continues, and so does the legacy of resistance that’s defined Black political power for generations. The series reminded us that redistricting isn’t just about lines on a map, it’s about who gets heard, and who gets left out.

When those in power manipulate the map to silence us, we organize, educate, and mobilize to redraw it in our image. Because every boundary they build, we meet with community, strategy, and truth.

Here’s how to keep the work going:

2️⃣ Share resources. Repost and spread the word using .
3️⃣ Stay Tuned. Be on the look out for ways you can work to protect & uplift Black voters!
