"A sprinkling from the unfathomed deep of His sovereign and all-pervasive Will hath, out of utter nothingness, called into being a creation which is infinite in its range and deathless in its duration."

Starting today, and for the next twelve days, Baha’is all around the world will celebrate the “King of Festivals,” the holiest days of the Baha’i year – the beautiful season of Ridvan. 🌹

The Baha’i Faith began on a beautiful, rose-filled island called the Garden of Ridvan (pronounced rez-vahn), which means paradise. That fragrant, birdsong-filled garden witnessed the birth of the world’s newest independent religion on this day in April of 1863.

«It is a day of joy, a time of happiness, a period of spiritual growth.» –

Celebrating Black History Month
These photos are of some of the courageous Black men and women who joined the Baha'i Faith during the Jim Crow era, a time when any form of "race mixing" was not only considered illegal but could lead to any number of cruel punishments.

All are welcome to come join Monmouth's Black History Month celebration on Tuesday, Feb 28, 6:30 to 8:30pm at the Monmouth Senior/Community Center, 180 Warren St. The President of WOU's Black Student Union will facilitate the program. The program will begin with two young women singing Lift Every Voice and Sing. Mayor Cec Koontz and Senator Deb Patterson will provide the welcome statements. The keynote speaker will be OSU Sociology Professor and author, Dr. Dwaine Plaza. He will give an interactive presentation exploring the origins and legacies of white supremacy ideologies in the US in order to show how African Americans have been resisting those ideas and practices since their arrival in 1619. We'll also drawings for free gift certificates and Dr. Plaza's books.
