As we get closer to May 11th, we wanted to share a reminder that our rescue will officially be closing its doors.

This decision hasn’t been easy—but it’s one we’re at peace with. Since opening in April 2024, we have helped 797 animals find their way to loving homes. 797 lives changed. 797 second chances. That number will forever mean everything to us.

What we’re most proud of isn’t just the number—it’s the community that grew alongside it. We built a team full of compassionate, selfless people who stepped up time and time again. That doesn’t end here. Their hearts, their work, and their dedication will continue on through other rescues, through volunteering, and through every life they touch moving forward. That’s the legacy.

On a personal note—this chapter has stretched me, shaped me, and changed me. I don’t see this as walking away, but as growing into something new. Sometimes you don’t quit something because it failed—you close it because you’ve outgrown it, and it did exactly what it was meant to do.

To everyone who has followed along, supported, fostered, donated, adopted, or simply shared our posts—you were part of this. You helped make those 797 stories possible.

And for those wondering—every animal currently in our care is accounted for. Any who are not yet adopted (only a couple) will be safely transitioned into trusted rescues we work closely with. We will also be covering all medical expenses and transport for any animals awaiting or pending adoption to ensure a smooth, safe transition into their next chapter.

This chapter is closing, but the impact will carry on far beyond May 11th.

Thank you for trusting us with these lives. Thank you for believing in what we built.

With so much pride and gratitude,
PAWS 🐾

Rescue Update 🤍

We’re in the final stretch, and I couldn’t be more proud of what we’ve built together.

Right now, we have 17 dogs and 16 cats left to place—each one so deserving of a home, and each one a reminder of how far this rescue has come.

Two of our long-term fosters—people who have poured their hearts into this work—have officially decided to start their own rescue. And honestly… that was always the point. To advocate, to lead, and to inspire others to step in and continue the work.

Over the past few years, I’ve watched multiple rescues grow from this space—something I built with no blueprint, no guide, just heart and determination. Seeing others take that and run with it is one of the most meaningful parts of this journey.

I’ll be right there alongside them for guidance and support, along with Tegan and Carmen, making sure they have everything they need to succeed. Watching this ripple effect happen is everything.

While this chapter is coming to a close for me, the impact doesn’t stop here. That’s the legacy. That’s the purpose.

After May 11th, any remaining animals will be transferred to carefully chosen rescue partners who share the same heart and standards we’ve always held.

Please keep an eye on our upcoming adoptables—we still have the sweetest kittens and puppies looking for their forever homes.

I may have outgrown this role, but I will never stop advocating for animals. That part of me isn’t going anywhere.

Thank you for being part of something that truly mattered. 🤍

Meet Buddy! 🐾

Buddy is a 5-6 month old Kelpie/Pit Bull mix puppy with a fun, energetic personality and a big heart. He’s a playful boy who loves attention and is looking for a family ready to include him in daily life and activities.

Buddy is still very much a puppy and will need continued structure, training, and plenty of exercise. In return, you’ll get a loyal companion who just wants to be near his people and soak up affection.

🐾 Buddy at a glance:
• 5-6 months old
• Kelpie/Pit Bull mix
• Energetic and playful
• Affectionate and people-oriented
• Needs regular activity and engagement
• Thriving in foster care
Buddy has two brothers and one sister also available through the rescue. (We do not adopt littermates together to help them develop healthy independence and bonding with their adopters.)

Buddy would do best with a family that has time, patience, and love to give a growing puppy — he has so much potential and will make an amazing lifelong companion.

Benjamin (now lovingly called Benjie by his adopters) had one of the more unusual foster journeys we’ve seen.

For weeks at a time we wouldn’t hear from his foster despite checking in and sending applications. Then one day, out of the blue, her boyfriend reached out saying they planned to take him to the shelter.

At the time, we had zero foster homes available, and because we don’t believe in boarding dogs, we suddenly had to figure out a plan very quickly. Thankfully, they agreed to hold off for a couple of days, which gave us a small window to try and make something work.

During those two days we were reaching out everywhere we could and even notified the shelter to keep an eye out just in case he was surrendered so we could step in if needed.

Due to the circumstances, we also made sure to notify local shelters so that this individual would be placed on do-not-adopt and do-not-foster lists, ensuring situations like this don’t happen again.

Thankfully, an amazing foster stepped up right when we needed it most. Benjie went to a wonderful foster home and was adopted over the summer by an incredible family.

We still receive frequent updates, and seeing how loved and happy he is today reminds us exactly why we do this work. ❤️🐾
