Hey Hiram Businesses!

Calling all local businesses in and around Hiram! 🎃

Help us give the kids a fun, safe night of trunk-or-treating! We’d love for you to be part of Hiram’s Trunk or Treat, meet local families, and enjoy an evening with our community.

Bring your candy to hand out, your Halloween spirit, and show up at 530 p.m. to get set up. Let’s come together to make this a special night for the kids!

It was windy, tent went a flyin', and there are little paper pumpkins scattered down Main Street, but we gave it a go! Big thanks to Pumpkin Vine Gardens and Hart Insurance Agency for your donations to support activities at this year's Boo Bash!

Daylight Saving Time ends in two weeks, on Sunday, November 1. The time changes at 2:00 a.m., when most people are asleep. Consider changing your clocks before bed on Halloween night, Saturday, October 31, to avoid confusion in the morning! 🎃

Of course, not all states abide by Daylight Saving Time. Most of the states do, but Hawaii and most of Arizona do not. One notable exception in Arizona is the Navajo Nation—they do observe Daylight Saving Time. The U.S. territories of American Samoa, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands also do not observe Daylight Saving Time.

Common perception is that Daylight Saving Time was created to help farmers gain more time in the fields. However, that lore isn't true. The United States started using Daylight Saving Time in 1918 during World War I to help reduce the use of electricity.
