Announcements and Key Topics
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), in cooperation with the Lane Plating Community Advisory Group (LP CAG) is holding a community meeting to announce a removal action that will involve demolition of the former electroplating facility, and excavation of contaminated soil from the Lane Plating Works Inc. Superfund site. This action is being taken because of reports received by EPA showing that trespassers previously broke into the former electroplating facility, potentially exposing people who enter the building to unacceptable levels of hexavalent chromium dust. EPA will also conduct additional soil sampling and air monitoring to ensure hazardous dust is contained during the removal action.
EPA will host a meeting with members of the LP CAG on:
Saturday, November 19, 2022
11:00 am – 1:00 pm
Highland Hills Branch Library
6200 Bonnie View Road
Dallas, Texas 75241
During the meeting the EPA will discuss the Removal Action and give an update over the long-term site cleanup. Following the presentation, there will be a Question & Answer session.
This meeting is being held in a fully accessible facility. For more information, please contact Ed Mekeel, U.S. EPA Community Involvement Coordinator, at 214-665-2252 or [email protected] may also contact the site On-Scene Coordinator, Eric Delgado, at 214-665-2703.
