Class spotlight: Drawing Circle ⭐️

Art educator An Lusk runs a weekly drawing class at Arts Mission Oak Cliff that teaches realistic, imaginative, and self-reflective drawing practices.

If you don’t consider yourself an artist, don’t worry. An has created a collaborative-style class that taps into our whimsical side through funny, creative prompts and self-reflection using mindful observation techniques.

Drawing Circle was designed to help you get out of your head a little and let your unique creativity flow freely onto the page. There will be drawing games, time to draw the world around, and you’ll learn new ways to draw without the pressure of perfection. Other times, you’ll have open class time to craft and hang out after a long workday.

This fun class could become your new weekly spot.

Save the dates! Our Summer artist-in-residence has exciting things in store at Arts Mission Oak Cliff.

Calvin J. Walker is an award-winning writer and director who has been active in the independent film world since 2012. As part of his residency, he’ll lead masterclasses in acting and directing for both first-time performers and seasoned professionals, designed to help participants process complex emotions and shape powerful moments on- and off-screen.

Join us this weekend for SEEDS at Arts Mission Oak Cliff.

Seeds, a flagship program by Agora Artists, is a dynamic concert showcasing new work by eight Dallas-based choreographers. The fully produced performance offers artists a platform to present their work, meet new audiences, and gain experience in producing and presenting dance at a professional level.

Come learn more about Agora Artists’ mission and see how SEEDS mentors and empowers dancemakers into professionals.

We did it!

Restoration Day at Arts Mission Oak Cliff was a beautiful success. We’re feeling so grateful for every single person who poured so much care into every corner, every wall, of our historic building. For years, AMOC has been a place that cultivates artists, showcases talent, and supports local art and beyond. It’s an incredible honor that those same community members have given us their time to restore and deep-clean our home so we can all keep doing our thing.
And a huge, heartfelt THANK YOU to our incredible sponsors who made Restoration Day possible!

Mark your calendars for our summer artist-in-residence ’s offerings.

Devon “Vonnie” Smith is a research-based cultural worker who uses various modes of documentary production to preserve Black diasporic histories, with intentions of disrupting and dismantling systems of erasure.

Throughout their residency, Vonnie will be working on community storytelling workshops that explore local history and cultural memory, helping us rethink how cameras can be used as a tool for connection and presence.
